Title: Drivers door lock
Post by: Andy663 on 22 November 2014, 12:31:44
My drivers door won't open or close using central locking, I have to operate it manually with the key and the alarm light (with the the pic of an intruder) above the radio flashes when I activate the central locking with the remote. Has the locking motor failed?

..... Has the locking motor failed?

It sounds like it could have ..... they're not too difficult to change.

Fronts are both the same, but different from the rears  ;)

The rears are differant? I didn't know that.

But that would prompt the thought, why don't I know? I've never changed a rear, but changed every front on every omega I have owned as a daily driver.

Which might suggest the rears are more reliable? And if so, in what way. I mean all four motors are activated each time the the remote is pressed. So why do the fronts always seem to fail first?

Not saying the rears never fail mind you. But it does seem rare by comparison to the front.

Anyway, that's my thought for the day.. I'm off for a lie down. ;D

We know the motors rarely fail, its always the switches.  Although I've change a couple of rears, never taken one apart to know if its a switch fault there  :-[

I seem to recall that they all have the same switches, but the rears only use one, or did I make that up? :-\

In any event, KW's 'how to' is excellent, I've repaired 3 successfully so far, for minimal cost. :y

Yup, easy fix, if a tad fiddly to do.  Done a load now, as people keep turning up here, and like cracking doors, my OCD won't allow them to leave without it being fixed.
