When I had my 2.0 cav. I was offered one of the engines but wasn't brave enough to swap it :)

I could live with that, would be nice to see under the rear as it might have the IRS setup given the engine.

Many moons ago, I used to have a 2.5 V6 Vectra hatchback.....that was quick :y :)

From new you could buy any spec Cavalier with the V6 engine.
Toomeys had a V6 in LS spec in their showroom complete with plastic wheel trims on 13's when I was looking at buying my old Cavalier in the mid 90's
From memory it was very close to the end of the Cavalier life and think they were just trying to shift the last cars with whatever engines they had left!!

Always rated my two old company cars 2.0 8V GLSi and 2.0 16V SRi. They were supremely reliable machines, except when your dealer services it and test drives it into the back of a lorry. They both did 50K - 55K a year for their three year leases.

I could live with that, would be nice to see under the rear as it might have the IRS setup given the engine.
IRS was never available on the Hatchback. Only on the Saloon :y

If that was the case, it had the smaller discs. The SRi discs and callipers wouldn't fit under 13" rims (unless you are talking the early ones 1989/1990 cars)

Had a black N Reg 2.5 v6 CDX for several years.
Went like a stabbed rat and comfy too having full heated leather and aircon.Chopped it in for my first Omega as liked the engine size but did find it small inside

My mother had one, a car which applied the Allegro effect to the mk2 Cavalier; the replacement was notably worse in every respect. It was on 13" wheels, so they were available on the mk3.
And I damn near killed myself in my boss's 2.0l 16v GLS when I gently accelerated away from the Godstone roundabout and nearly demolished the crash barrier. It was so bad I had to check that all 4 tyres were still properly inflated. I hate to think how bad a V6 handles.

I borrowed one for a week, in 4X4 Calibra guise and seem to remember that was quick, I seem to recall it was a Turbo..... :-\ :-\ Perhaps it was a turbo and not 4x4..... :-[ The old memory plays tricks on me sometimes......... ::) ::)

A mates dad had one as a company car, he had to wait ages from order to delivery and had to make do with a 1.8 Passat saloon ;D

Got to admit, I really wouldn't mind having one (maybe not a 4x4 Turbo!) as a Summer project. Just have to find one where the rear suspension mounting points aren't an MOT failure. :(
Question is, where would I hide it from Mrs VXL as I'm slightly concerned that she may be just a tiny bit angry with me! ;D

Our driveway has no more room! Can get two Omega's and an Alhambra on it but a Calibra would need to be stood on end and leant against the house!
She probably wouldn't mind if I sold either Omega......
So that's killed that idea off then ;D

My first venture into Vauxhall World was a Flame Red V6 saloon (auto unfortunately) on GLS Trim from Toomeys at Basildon.
It was a 96 P plate.
This caused lots of problems for insurers who could not give me a quote without lots of fuss.
My guess was it had been standing on a storage airfield waiting to be sold. It was one of the Toomey directors cars.
I loved the thing- drove me and the Mrs from the Church to reception and all the kids came home from Hospital in it. Wish I'd never sold it. Only had 64k on the clock
Last time I checked it was reported as stolen and never recovered. What a waste :'(
But it went so I could have my Omega. ;)

Not entirely true......as that was year one production. They then added a temp sensor which knocked the front wheel drive out if the oil got to hot therefore saving the Puch built wet plates.
Remember also, this affects all modern AWD vehicles to.........
Great car though the DTM Turbo Calibra......

I restored a white 2.0 16v a year or two ago, looked great but I wasn't that impressed with it so sold it on and got my 3.0 mig back out of hibernation.

Vast majority running around now are locked in 2wd mode I believe.
Always thought the SE model in black with gold BBS alloys looked the absolute business, SE5 I think it was, I know the other one with BBS alloys was the flame red SE9

The major issue now is getting the accumulator.
