Title: outside temperature sensor
Post by: amazonian on 04 December 2014, 00:40:07
Advice please chaps,  my outside temperature gauge is showing between 67 and 69.5C on the screen.
I understand that its not just to tell me what the weather is like, but exactly how will it affect the running of the car ? ( I assume it is telling porkies to the engine)

Thought it just tells you the outside temp as I have just changed mine as the old one was reading far to high like yours but it didnt effect the running / heating of the car. :-\

Prefacelift & minifacelift the outside air temp sensor is just to tell you the temp outside, but on face lift cars it also talks to the a/c so your interior temp will be up the wall.
You need a new temp sensor which lives on the lower edge of the front spoiler in the middle. If a new sensor doesn't want to play (they're only cheap), then go back along the loom to the next connector & check for decent connections in the plug/socket.

Face lift Climate control goes loopy with no temp sensor signal, can vouch for that.

Had a similar prob on mine where it was reading mius 60 outside so it got extreamly toasty inside. Bad conections on the bumper loom plug on mine

Sensor is easily dislodged by puddles etc... Sitting next to a warm radiator is enough to confuddle it...

Easily sorted with the bonnet open on facelift cars :y

Is the sensor the same for all Omega's?

Mines been displaying some odd info lately - pretty sure it wasn't 24c last night in Fareham at 2230

Thanks

Yours is giving a reading though, (question to the electrickery minded members here) is it worth checking the loom plug on pas side for corrosion...?
