Does anyone else think it's a bit of a con? It claims that you can get over 100mpg from a huge 4X4, which may or may not be true, but.....it fails to mention that petrol/diesel is not the only fuel you will be paying for. You have to charge it up every night just like Matt's milk float.
-
It is also an ugly fooker......being almost 'Daewooesque' in appearance. :)
-
If you want to save fuel / the planet (delete according to your belief system), wouldn't you just not buy a Chelsea Tractor? :-\

All of these, Range Rooney included, are no more than 'posh vans' with windows.

Indeed. A saloon car has now got about as aerodynamically efficient as it's going to be, but no, we need to drive something "sit-up-and-beg" with a huge frontal area and spare wheels, roof bars, etc. hanging off it. ::)
-
I need a cube-shaped vehicle to carry my doggie and her wardrobe of coats, towels, bags etc,.
But my point was not about the vehicle, it was about the claim the advert made. While it might have been true that it could obtain xxxxxmpg, there was no mention of cost of electricity.
I may write to the ASA.
Disgruntled of Barnsley. >:(

Thats surely is going to cost a fortune especially if your on a card meter like me ;D These charging points around the big cities , do you get to charge your car for free ? :-\

Supercharging is free for the life of Model S
Ought to be at £980 a month for the car :'(
-
These SUV's are all pretty homogeneous these days. If you took the Mitsubishi badge off it could be anything. ::)

Been through this already. Fueling a Tesla at home for a year costs less than taxing your Omega for a year. Though that does totally ignore the fact that you can fuel the Tesla at Tesla chgarging points free for ever. So it's already saves you the cost of taxing and fueling your Omega.
By the way, it's a £50k+ car from the executive end of the luxury market. The target audience is S Class/7 series drivers, so no point bitching about the price, as you clearly missed the point of it :y

I think you'll find a Peugeot badge on it somewhere :y

Al .. you forgot one other extremely important point ......
IT'S BLOODY GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( and so are the performance figures !)
:D :D :D :D

The MPG figures (getting back on topic) are IIRC combined use of the engine and the electric motor thus giving the 100MPG as the engine won't be running constantly but only when needed....

.. and you can bet that the battery was fully charged at the start of their "test" and empty at the end of it. ;)

....but still no more than a glorified milk float.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars are the way to go. Electric cars have been around since the dawn of time and yet they still need a good old-fashioned petrol engine to help out if you travel further than the end of your drive.

Not to mention the cost of replacement batteries every five years or so. :-\

You can rent the batteries, but still very expensive.
You hold on to your ancient barge, old man, it won't be obsolete for a while yet. :y

Not to mention the effects of sub zero temperatures.

Not at all... £1380 pm for the spec I want, then
take full advantage of free charges rip the arse out of the supercharger network and free coffee plus insurance, so call it £1550 per month. The Eclass costs a total of £650 prr month. The £900 a month difference equates to two tanks of diesel a week...
A slow week I'll use just over a tank and on a busy week will use three tanks. If I were consistently busy, the Model S would make serious sense... :y

Would you have to put a large deposit down?

Serious question Al
I wonder if there is a market for a environmentally friendly, luxurious taxi service with some of the more image conscious companies in the capital.
I bet there are some companies or even celebrities around there who would pay top dollar to turn up at a venue or conference in a flash so called environmentally sound car :y
And of course, you would charge a very good rate for such a exclusive service :)
Maybe its worth looking into ;)

Nah - The 'celebs' will end up in a Toyota Avensis/Mitsubishi Charisma because the batteries on the Tesla failed. ;D
-
£2k to order it, then no further deposit, but even lightly specced it's near enough £68k...
Mocking/jesting aside, there are firms using them as chauffeur cars in the City, so it's not an unreasonable business suggestion :-\
-
How long do they take to charge up? Could be some serious downtime.... :-\

Two hours using the Supercharger iirc, overnight if at home... public chargepoints are about a mile per minute depending on servicability, but specced correctly, the Model S is available with twin chargers, effectively doubling the charge rate :y
