Anyone help with the part number for Engine sump gasket on 3.0 mv6 please :)
-
Just clean it up with a bit of green scouring pad and some brake cleaner then apply a thin film of gasket sealant to both surfaces.
Wait for it to go off a little then bolt it all back together :y :y
I used some Loctite stuff for both my gearbox and engine sump with no problems :y
-
They don't have one... Camcover goo on a nice clean surface as above :y
Don't forget there are two halves to the sump, upper and lower, and engine needs lifting about three inches to remove the upper half...
-
Thanks TG & TA :y Need to get to the strainer so guess its all got to come off .
-
Nope, just the lower steal pan needs to come off to get to the strainer.
-
Upper half often leaks though so if your feeling energetic, do both. Although... you'll need an engine crane to lift the engine to give clearance to do the upper half.

I'll hire one :)

Check if it's actually leaking first, perhaps?

Steve, can you let me know how much you get stung for renting a crane and where from? I need to rent one so I can get the 3.0l engine on a stand. :y
-

Here mate :( lift (http://www.hirecentres.com/product/engine-hoist.html) not sure if its man enough though :-\

Thanks Steve.
It says it's god for 500kg, so I assume it would be absolutely fine for an omega engine :-\

If you haven't bought the stand yet, get one with four legs. Although the lighter rated ones carry the weight, I find them a little wobbly.
Two people should be able to lift an V6 onto a stand, especially if you bolt the plate to the engine first.
