As Bigriffin often says, buy the best tyres you can afford.

There's always the search forum button too :y

Lovetyres were selling Goodyear F1 Eagle Asy 2 at £68 a corner recently, Mr Emd.

I paid almost that much for some 'instant slip' Wanli ditchfinders.....which lasted for only 5000 miles.

They look ok and 20db less than the Maxxis i have on and they are damn noisy  :(

Wear rate wont be an issue  ;)

I suggest you check out the independent customer reviews. Most people seem happy.

My rears have covered almost 11,000 miles with plenty of meat (3-4mm) left.

£43 for Linglong-Greenmax UHP and reviews are all good  :o Is a brand name like Goodyear always the best to go for though  :-\

Trouble is with reviews is people's requirements vary dramatically - and those buying such budget ones are after something black, round and will pass the MOT.

In my opinion, Toyo T1R's are quite grippy but don't expect many miles from them. The price that Lord Opti paid for the Goodyear's mean there's no point bothering to look at anything at the top end of the budget list because they simply won't compare on so many levels with them.

Just my opinion, probably wrong.

At that price, Mr EMD should snap up some F1's immediately.

Enduro Runway 926, £55 a corner. Probably the better end of the budget tyres.

Emd, most budget tyres are not that bad when roads dry..  its the wet that distinguishes the tyres.. f1 asym 2 is the correct tyre if you want the cheapest that wont risk you imo

I've just checked.

In the 94Y variety they are still for sale at £68.14....plus postage.

If I had 17,s I'd snap them up. Not as grippy as sc3 or RT but for that money, who cares.

Sadly the 18's are £120 odd.

Aye, EMD I'd recommend you go for those GY's, given your more sedate style.  Far more consistent than the budgets you'll get for the same sort of price.

I wouldn't recommend for more spirited drivers, given my experiences across multiple sets.

Can some clever bastard tell me what the 94Y part of the equation refers to?

94 is load rating, omega takes 93 and above. Y is speed rating, which covers it.

Ps. Me not clever. :(

Ooh, good price. I've got the 97Y load rating F1's and they were £105 each a couple of weeks back. The 94Y's were £100 each at the same place.

All good then.

What we now need is for Mr Emd/Mr 99p to put his hand is his pocket.

Your Merc gets through tyres like there is no tomorrow, Al.

Anyone biting at £17495?

Only Vamps ;D

True enough though wrt tyres... only reason it's getting winters is that they were fitted to it when I bought it... which, incidentally, tells you everything you need to know about how it will behave in icy conditions :-\

Btw, now £17,000 available in Jan with next service done ::)

Be about 80k by then, currently on 76,300...

An extra £350 would see the warranty transferred over too, valid until next November...

Had a V70 T6 lined up but it has an unresolved lo can issue which manifests itself as cluster failure and complete electrical control lock out.

That's to say it has a lo can fault and apparently clearing all the subsequent fault codes has solved the problem...

If it were a toy I would chance it, but as a work vehicle, no :-\

So still looking but will be a variation on a theme... :-\
