Can anyone give a rough estimate of what you could potentially pay by getting a reputable garage to supercharge a car?? I wouldn't even know where to start!!
Cheers folks
-
Depends on the car and on the supercharger. A car where there is a supercharged variant is likely to cheaper due to availability of parts.
-
I was thinking my omega :o
-
Ah. Think you're flogging a dead horse there. Are you starting with a 3.2?
-
It's about £4k to reliably add a blower to a 4pot... :-\
-
No the 2.6, is it not do able?? I'm a complete novice on superchargers/turbos

I wouldn't expect the engine to last long once blown. The cost would be high, and reliable gains quite small. Throwing in a 3.2 instead will be much, much cheaper, and send you over 200bhp.
-
Yeah I'm not sure on what gains in power to expect, my car has been super chipped, she is realllly quick (well i think) I actually can't think what the 3.2 would be like :/ lol
-
When I saw this I had to check the op's location, as things about superchargers and lsd, normally start in eireland. :)
I misjudged the op. ;)
-
Bottom end is a bit fragile over a certain point. To keep it reliable the pressure would have to be kept quite low. So wouldn't give the gains one might expect, given the outlay.
Not sure of the 2.6 stock power. 180bhp?
3.2 218bhp.
You'd need to keep the sc below 250bhp to keep the bottom end safe. Worth the cost?

Maybe I should just finish my motorbike build... Keep the wife off my back :(

Well that would be useful weight saving. All helps on Power to weight ratio. ;D ;D ;D ;D
PS you could put some 3.0 litre engine cams in next cambelt change for a useful, proven and safe power increase :y
-
I'll bare that in mind Varche cheers!! :y

The 3.2 is significantly quicker than the 2.6 in any guise. More so than the performance figures suggest, IMHO, so that would certainly be the next step in performance before even thinking about going off-piste with potentially very expensive mods (and consequences). :y
-
G Cams.... always the same with a thread asking about turbo-ing or stoopercharching the V6... if you want more power from the wicklest (and, of course, better :y) V6s then G Cams... if you want even more power, buy a 3 / 3.2.
Or, buy a 2.0 DTi badge for the boot and surprise people when you take off the lights :)

TBH, a 3.2 engine is probably not far off the cost of a set of g cams, so (having had a g-cammed, superchipped 2.5) I probably wouldn't piss around, and just chuck the bigger lump in.
