Title: Windy drive home
Post by: ronnyd on 11 December 2014, 12:09:07
Moved my youngest up to Gordieland on Tuesday, had good drive up. Stayed over and came back yesterday. Had to give
trucks a bit of a wide berth on the A1. one guy was pushed right over onto the hard shoulder by a strong gust. My empty
van was a bit lively at times but all in all found it great fun. Got less windy south of midlands. :y

I once passed a 30t truck up on one set of wheels on the M62.. I reckon he probably needed new underwear after that one.

I was OK, he was falling away from me.. ;D

I remember some years ago on the A1 coming South in a Cortina Estate towing a box trailer that was more or less empty, wind was strong, late evening in the dark. All of a sudden trailer went over and somehow car and trailer were facing North on the Southbound carriageway............. :o :o

I was particularly quick at undoing my seat belt and exiting the car, as the traffic came down on me. Long story short, everything stopped! lots of people got out and helped me push the trailer upright and a truck stayed in the outside lane to protect me from the wind for many miles till my exit........I didn't get the sack, trailer was new....... :y :y
