Title: New car.....
Post by: bertie1.8vectra on 11 December 2014, 14:31:56
So i`ve been car shopping for a new 4x4, really wanted a Disco 300 tdi or Td5 but people wnted too much money for rot boxes and mot failures. I even considered a P38 at one point but then a mate told me about how much he loved owning a jeep cherokee so i had a look at a couple and finnally decided on a 02 model cherokee with 60,000 on the clock, i`m really chuffed with it and love driving it. :y :y

They are trouble though are the Jeeps.......they eat rear brake callipers and bits that should last the life of the car.

How did Mercedes solve the problem, Henry?

I'd wager that there was the odd moose in Opti's hoose during his young, wild and carefree days!  ;D

By retrofitting the ESP system from the S Class iirc... A more basic version was previously an option on the A Class. The car tested was somewhat lacking. Obviously ;D So Mercedes didn't piss about in fixing it...

Wider track and lower centre of gravity I think.

Or what Al said or both ;D

My cousin has had Jeep Cherokee's and Grand Cherokee's for years and wouldn't have anything else.  He buy's new, keeps them for 4 or 5 years before chopping in for the next one.  :y

He starting to get on a bit now, so I doubt he goes much above 40 unless it's in a dead straight line though!  ;D

Good Choice Bertie, I had the 05 reg Grand Cherokee, in Mercedes Diesel 2.7 Mode. Once I got used to it rolling around corners it was a reliable machine that was never really tested with the weather, in the 3 years of ownership, typically we never had a bad winter while I had it, now sold it looks like we may have a bad winter....... ::) ::) ::)

Sold to Sister in Law who uses it regularly for towing a horse box with 2 flippin great big horses in it.......... :y

Modified front shocks to make it horrifically under steer on the ones already produced.
