Hi all, been a while since I've had to post on here! Shows I've had a run of good luck with the Omega which may have just ended :'(
The outside temperature display seem to be reading incorrect and I wasn't getting any heat out of the blowers when set to auto, so I replaced the sensor yesterday with a brand-new Vauxhall part and although the temperature seems to be reading a little more correct I'm still not getting any heat when the temperatures are set to full or even when a high-temperature is selected when I reduce the temperature from the full setting the fans switch off.
Could the issue be the heater bypass valve?
-
Possible. Though I'd reset the system unless you already have, though. Hold auto and off for 5 secs. :)
-
If you set the temperature to "HI" do you still get no heat?
Can you reach into the driver's footwell and feel the ali pipes that feed the heater matrix. Are they getting hot?
-
Any testing or resetting I'll have to do after work tonight...
But, with the heat set to 'HI' I get warm/hot heat from the centre face vents but the side ones seem to blow cold air. Engine temp sits at its normal temp around 85°/90°c
-
On a limb (not massive experience on the CC, as mine's always touch wood worked ok, only needing the occasional reset) but id say if some vents are working but others arent, it's not HBV, as that controls and make the magic warm air on all the vents, or none of the vents, not just a couple. SO, in theory, you've just to reset the system.
On a limb, and not wanting to get your hopes up, of course! But suspect a simple fix. :y
-
Ok thanks, I'll certainly give that a try... How do I know when it's reset itself? Will the display show me?
-
No, aside from maybe the odd quiet 'clunk' 'thud' noise from inside the dash, you'll just find yourself going either...
"Oooh! That's better."
or
"That lying sod on OOF, I need a new HBV, now >:("
:y
-
If you get heat on "Hi" but not on the lower settings, it's normally a sign that the outside temperature sensor is still fooling it, rather than a HBV / blending flap issue. Odd that the side vents blow cold, though. IIRC it normally heats from the side, as this keeps the windows clear too.
-
I've had a quick search on other threads on here and seen that it could be a possible wiring issue with water ingress, so I shall investigate further over the weekend. Hopefully the temperature doesn't drop too much between now and then lol
-
I'd try a rest before anything else - it's quick and its free ;) You should hear various whirrings behind the dash when you do a reset - when they stop its reset. If its no better it at least rules it out.
-
Sounds normal to me with a wonky temp reading. Mine went loopy when the sensor wire broke. Although that gave no reading at all.
Is there any corrosion in the bumper loom plug?( Or the sensor plug)
Face lift reset sometimes only works with engine off, ignition on. Ime.

Well on further investigation there's corrosion in that part of the loom... Just phoned Vx and they're getting a replacement in for me from Germany :y Bloody typical it's this time of year that the heating breaks! And ironically both parts of corrosion are only on the wires feeding the outside temperature sensor!

Ok, so I've replaced the short loom section and bought a new OTS which is showing correct temps but I'm still only getting heat on the passenger side. I used the search and found two threads on fixing the drive/passenger side actuator rods that pop off their motors in the foot wells, driverside was off which I've now fixed, trouble is its still blowing cold AND I've tried resetting the CC many times.
Any further suggestions? Thermostat?
-
Sounds like the lever to the blending flap on that side has disconnected.

I've fixed that tho Kevin, I'll check it again just in case...

If they've come off once, they will pop off again... a bit like the headlight sensors :-\ a cable tie might help secure it if you've the access...
-
So it's got to the point now where I can clip it back on from being sat in the drivers seat! No matter how many times I clip it on it seems to pop back off, I think the rounded lugs have worn and rounded off so I may buy a new motor and replace the lot... But, where does the black rod go too?
Oh and a short video of all the action lol

Absolutely NO room down there at all for faffing with cable ties... Although I do have one plan up my sleeve ;)

How exactly does that help me?
