The V6 does get quite hot without actually over heating. If the temperature gauge moves, then assume it works. Any codes from the pedal trick? ECU temp sensor is different to the gauge one and will show a code if faulty.

Do the fans kick in? There are two thermoswitches in the left hand end of the radiator, one powers the main fan relay and the other regulates the fan speed of the front fans. Aircon off, the front fans only run when the engine starts to get too hot.

Aircon on, the front fans should run constantly, getting faster if the temp gets too high, think idling in traffic on a hot day... :y

On all Omegas, slow speed fans should kick in just over midpoint on the gauge, and high speed fans at halfway between halfway and 100C.

This translates to about 92C on FL and 96C on PFL/MFL for slow speed, and 95C on FL and 97-98C on PFL/MFL for high speed.

Does the aircon work, and do the front fans work when the aircon is on?

Amazing how the Omega likes cool air , temp gauge soon drops when on the move .. They hate traffic jams , fans cutting in quite a bit .

First thing is to establish the fans are working ;)

The fans are working big relief, kicked in just over the 90 mark! So it isn't just my thermostat that's shoots up in traffic then! I can relax, I've seen them working now ;)
