I've read a few posts on here asking what somethings are under the bonnet where the answer has been that they're some kind of extra coolant pumps, one being on the radiator and the other near the header tank.I couldn't recall seeing these on mine,so while changing the thermostat on Xmas day I thought I'd take a look.I think I've found the radiator one-a small cylindrical affair clipped/fastened to rad shroud near top hose with an electrical connector going in at the top yes?Of the other there is no sign. Were these a specified option not fitted to all cars?or is my 3.0 F/L Elite missing something that should in fact be there?Of the 3 hoses that attach to the header tank the small one runs forward to radiator(?)second slightly larger one to front of engine and the 3rd larger, lower one appears to go to a metal tube running alongside the engine.

my better looking MFL ::) wasn't fitted with one, but I thought all face lift cars were fitted with one ..... ???

Only fitted as part of the Winter pack on FL aka an option on GLS and standard across the rest of the range :y
-
Are they only on the Auto's, for the extra Trans Oil cooler? :-\
-
Must have been an option as mine only has the one on the rad. :-\

All three of my manual ex plods have had both pumps.
Will check when I get home, but defo part of the Winter pack, but might include headlight washers so could be Cdx and above

the one on the rad provides movement of coolant, when you stop the engine, around the block to prevent localised overheating in high ambient temps

Winter pack deffo standard on later CD and up ;)
Extra pump might be for 3.0/2.6/3.2 only :-\

none on my 1999 3.0 Elite ??? .... cruise lived on the inner wing where the pump would've been

I get a feeling the cruise equipped PFL (and possibly FL with superior 2.5/3.0 engines) didn't have the pump under coolant bottle)

Doesn't this pump let you run the heater with the engine stopped for a short while? My MFL didn't have this function

No, as Andy says that's where the cruise lives. Maybe that second pump under the bottle was only on DBW models? :)

My MFL MV6 had one ;)

Did it have cruise? If so how was there room for both pump & cruise gubbins? :-\

They share a mounting point, but don't know if there are any clearance issues... the pump sits almost on top of the chassis rail iirc :-\

Cruise retro fitted (hence it had pump). Easy enough to modify the mounting bracket.
Obviously, the pump is gone now, due to LPG, and needing room for the evap.
-
Presumably then the cruise gubbins hangs down to the pump location causing interference issues :-\

Nope. Plenty of room for both. Remember, the pump normally sits almost under coolant bottle. Cruise unit bolted to turret.
-
Ah ok, that makes sense :y
-
Well directly below coolant bottle is the cruise control gubbins, difinetly no sign of a pump or any spare wiring/electrical plug in the vicinity. So guessing mine never had one in the first place.
-
My 2001 2.2 CDX has neither / 2.5 CD has both, but disappointingly the pump under the header tank does not run when using CC while parked. The pump works if powered but no power ever appears on the plug :-(
-
My pfl TOURER, based on a GLS SPEC had the pump fitted below the header tank.
