Happy New Year everyone.
I converted my MV6 from auto to manual in 2013 using the excellent guide put together by matchless. The only minor issue I'm left with is the MID showing the "Automatic Gearbox" error on startup, can this be fixed with Tech2?
What else should/could be updated while the Tech2 is on it?
Cheers.

MID reprogram. Might be worth doing engine variant and ABS variant whilst there.
If you ever pass Hotel21's way, he could do it :y
-
Thanks TB, have you got the specifics mate? I had a rendezvous with Hotel21 this afty but we couldn't figure it out between us, except we did manage to change the variant for the ABS/TC module.
If I go through the MID reprogram, does it give an obvious list to select from?
Cheers.

Can you press S and R together for 3 or 4 seconds, and check current config (one of the 3 digit numbers).
If its 048 (I suspect), change it to 046
Diagnostics > 1998 > Omega-B > Infotainment > Multi Info Display > Programming > Program Code Index and enter in correct number.

You could also remove the autobox wire from the MID plug, and tape it back into the loom... but that is a bit of a bodge ::)

Indeed, but given the OPs proximity to a Tech2, we'd go for the correct option :)

Quite right too ;)

Thanks for replies TB (& Al).
Pretty sure the current setting is 48, so will update that to 46.
The ABS module has been updated to "X 30 XE MT", anything else to be done?
-
The numbers shown were 48 and 3. Didn't know code options so left it meantime and suggested contacting either TB or Omegatoy. :)

48
Code Index - this needs changing via method I posted earlier
3
Changing Code Index will put latest code version on, no choice.

Updated to 46 and 'Automatic Gearbox' message is now gone. :y
Thank you TheBoy and hotel21.
Now, if only Tech 2 could fix a (very probable) failed head gasket :'(

Oh crikey, not yours as well?
Symptoms?

Pressurised cooling system, runs rough on startup if pressure not released soon after last run :(
After discussing with Broocie, gonna pull the plugs out to see if any are super-clean, will also use my coolant system pressure tester to see if any water shows up in the cylinders.
No excessive steam from exhaust yet, so must be early stages. System only pressurises when giving it some, if driven lightly it's ok - pity I never drive it lightly :P
Who else is having troubles?
-
That's not a common failure mode of GM V6 head gaskets. Which are normally bulletproof to start with...
-
I must have a talent then :) Cavalier 1.8 SRi: HGF at 100k (first sign, blown top rad hose), Carlton 2.0L: HGF at 100k (first sign, pressure relief cap), Omega 3L V6: F1-style HGF at 160k (first sign, pressure relief cap), now another Omega 3L V6 with the same pressurised coolant system.
Maybe I should stop chipping them and raising the rev limit ::)

Oh, and current engine has 95k on it - came out of the '95 Elite I had to scrap a couple of years ago. Has BB heads, 3.2 exhaust manifolds and Jetex system, the air mass meter complains about high voltage around the 7k RPM mark :-X
