Title: Old stock tyres ...new stock tyres.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 05 January 2015, 14:24:48
I need two new rear tyres. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy2.

Lovetyres are showing old stock (and out of stock) 235/45/R17 Y (94)...for £68.14

The latest stock (which is in stock) is priced at £84.13.  I'm informed the new stock is a'higher silicone content tyre' for less rolling resistance. Science or boll*cks what do you think?

Even at £84.13 I think the price  reasonable.

Go in to tyre shop. Ask for their budge tyre. Consume coffee whilst they're fitted. Drive away.

imo  ;D

If I owned the anaemic 2.2 litre version budget rubber would be just fine. ;D

Yep. That's why I've been on black circles website and chosen two £55 tyres for the front of my bus. There's no brand name, it just says 'budget'. I'm sure Webby will agree it's the only way to go.  ;D

Low power output means your new tyres should last for all eternity. ;D

I suspect that's because between the pair of us, we wasted a bloody fortune trying to find what we'd both class as a safe tyre for an Omega.

Blowing over £700 on a set of tyres only to find they were completely unsuitable for Omegas (SC5s) certainly focuses the mind when you need more  :-[
