Sad news, although he had a good innings and at least he got to 'escape' one last time!

In a similar vein, I was reading this earlier: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30685433

I particularly like the way his being shot in the eye (and subsequently losing it) was described:

Quote
"He didn't check his stride but I think the bullet stung him up as his language was awful. The doctor could do nothing for his eye, but we had to keep him with us. He must have been in agony."

What a great chap, and wish I had such spirit now, let alone when I'm in my 80s in a care home. May he rest easy

Makes a pleasant change from today s attitudes.

A friend of mine set off for skiing this year (without me) a week after the big snow fall which lead to abandoned and stranded vehicles and a poor sole ending up dead ofter sliding off the edge of a road.

The french authorities done the best the could in an emergency situation and set up emergency accommodation from the freezing conditions.

What did the Brits do? Whinge they haven't been fed. Gob smacking.
