How can you say it is a bargain? How many miles has it done? Does it need wishbones, a cambelt? Nearly £5k!

Hmmm... buying it is not as simple as it sounds... the seller is legally obliged to inform both their local constabulary and the buyers local constabulary of the buyers name and address... and whilst you're not obliged to be a member of a relevant organisation, it becomes alot harder to explain without.
Certainly not summat you can just 'sell on behalf of a mate' :-\
Price is definitely the interesting side of strong though :o

I would expect my marked traffic estate to be worth £3,000 at the most. But as mine has the proper Thames Valley Police livery, it'd be difficult for me to sell it without removing the crest etc.
Here's both of them joining other TVP vehicles;

I had a friend in Switzerland who bought a Dutch Police Range Rover but was not allowed to use it in CH. :(

I had a friend in Switzerland who bought a Dutch Police Range Rover but was not allowed to use it in CH. :(
Basically, local Constabulary should be informed, this ensures that the car is noted on the PNC to minimise unnecessary traffic stops. Membership of a relevant club gives the car a degree of legitimacy. It can be used on road for travel to/from events/meets and for 'Battery charging' purposes. All equipment must be satisfactorily disabled when on the road with any exterior blue lights covered. Must not have the word Police visible anywhere. Technically the blue bits of the livery should be covered as retroreflective materials are deemed to be a light source wrt the Road Traffic Act Construction and Use regs. Vehicle needs to be clearly marked as 'Not In Service' whilst on the road. Should also have adequate, relevant insurance, including public liability, MoT and tax in place. Finally, a log must be kept of every journey: start/finish locations and mileage, purpose of journey, name of driver. Log must be presented on demand.
There's a set of ACPO guidelines which have to be strictly adhered to to avoid an impersonation charge, but that's the gist of it :y

Wouldn't like to say what would happen if I took mine over to French France or beyond as part of a 'Tour'... ::)
Have always quite fancied the idea of maxing it on the Autobahn...
The Suisse issue could be constitutional, but could be due to a similarity of markings :-\
I don't know of any European forces which use a battenburg livery, most are white with a blue/red stripe iirc, and anything with the word 'Police' splattered all over it will attract attention.

The one bit of information I am aware of is that any police marked vechicle being driven on the road by a civilian (car valeter/mechanic etc) must have the flashing light roof unit removed or bagged/taped up so it cant be seen.
