Title: Best Project Omega Yet
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 11 January 2015, 19:57:43
I bought this car from our own VXL V6 (well, his Mrs!) back in May last year. 2.2 DTi Estate, 159k miles, for project money (£180 as per the ad) due to running problems, which turned out to be a slipping clutch.

After replacing the clutch kit, I've used the car as my daily driver ever since, and have now covered 11,000 miles. In that time, I have spent the grand total of....... ZERO on this car so far, other than consumables, Eg oil for regular changes, and a set of glow plugs for winter. It needed a new battery which I nicked off my now scrap 3.0.

This car has worked INCREDIBLY hard, it's been loaded up to the brim, including a very large roofbox, and in September took us from Buckinghamshire, to Dover, down through France and into Spain - a 4,000 mile round trip, with a lot of really steep mountain roads and hard work, and then back again, without missing a beat. (and it was absolutely loaded to the arches with booze on the way home!!)

It has been by far the best Omega workhorse I've ever owned. It still wants for nothing, other than a set of rear tyres.

The fact my breakdown cover for the trip cost more than the car, caused us a source of giggles!!

No plans to get Rid. Cheers Andy - you gave us a goodun here! :y

She also scrubs up very well :y

Yes, I forgot to mention that, it needs a washer on one of the rear cable-stays, that's all :y

Princes risborough to Cheltenham and back all A roads, 45mpg

Motorway 48mpg

Enjoying the turbo, 41 and 43mpg respectively

Short runs to work (7 miles) 36 to 37 mpg
