Anyone know if its a big job to replace both rear wheel bearings on a Jeep Cherokee :-\ Dont mind it going to a garage to get them replaced but guessing its not an easy job to diy :-\

They use a live axle, so it shouldn't be too bad: remove the brake, undo the backing plate, use a slidehammer to pull the halfshaft, drill/grind the retaining collar so the bearing can come off, and then have the new bearing/collar pressed back on. You will need the press, although anyone who has one is likely to do this job for a drink as it's a quick easy job.

I should clarify, it's the pressing the new bearing that is a drink, not the whole job!

Bah... if you can hear the wheel bearings over diff whine, then you've bigger issues... ;D

Can't be more than eight bolts holding the axle on :-\

It's too bloody heavy to remove the entire axle from the car just to change a wheel bearing! Makes it harder to pull the halfshaft too. Learnt all that with a Capri axle, which is probably half the weight of a Dana.
