...Do I find myself lusting over one of these all of a sudden :-\
(http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s251/rollogillespie/Rangie%20Detail/f11.jpg)
Their relatively slow, no idea on handling but i'd imagine not much fun in the twisty welsh roads, thirsty, expensive to buy an maintain... Meh the urge will pass (hopefully)... ;D
-
I can understand that particular itch, luckily (?) I havn't the cash to scratch it! :-\ ::) ;D
-
I found the Jeep quite terrible on country roads, and you are talking to a man who had a Renault 4 as a company car many years ago............... ::) ::)
Cant speak for modern Range Rovers, but older ones were terrible on the twisty bits........ :)
-
still wallowey old boats...even more so if on air :(
-
Having been a passenger in two of Joshs' they're not bad to be a passenger in, and can easily keep up with most things :y Worlds apart from the Defender... (clearly no bad thing) ::)
-
I hear you there Tig I'd sooner afford a LS430 before one of these :o
Good to know Vamps / Al :y
Hmmm a supercharged one :-* Link (http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=111570993296) although it's the 'Proper Range Rover' not as keen on this from the exterior view at least, Handling any worse / better on these over the Sport ?
-
Full fat RR brilliant. RR Sport is uberchav.
-
I fancy a proper RR, not that Sport one. The Sport has more in common with Disco than a proper RR.

They are a very nice place to be.
I've been lucky enough to drive a few of the ones he's had :y
I have this weird split personality with Range Rovers. The petrol ones, particularly that supercharged one he had 2 or 3 years ago, I drove it like a man possessed, and had to distract young joshwyatt away from the car when I handed keys back, so the brakes could stop smoking before he looked. Yet that TD6 one he briefly had, I was content just tootling around in it, like a model citizen. The other V8 petrols probably fit somewhere in between from a hooligan perspective.
I really fancy trying a TDV8 one. Powerful enough to keep up, economical enough (when not hoofing it) to be viable for me. On paper anyway.
-
I wish you said that a week ago... two birds and all that...
To clarify, you could have had one on your drive ::)
-
If you really want one,I can get a 10% discount,

I think I can get good discount off a new one. But I want one for £7k or less

I have this weird split personality with Range Rovers. The petrol ones, particularly that supercharged one he had 2 or 3 years ago, I drove it like a man possessed, until I came across a bend and realised I was driving a water bed, so had to dump all the speed into the poor brakes.
Fixed for you. Well, my experience, at any rate. ;)

Indeed, sports car it ain't. Horrific understeer if you push it too hard into corners, and at nigh on 3t, it takes some stopping. But its not intended to be a racer.
And it still accelerates, stops and corners better than a Battlebus, and I'm led to believe the TDV8 variants should return better than the bus' 31mpg...

The diesel V8's are supposed to manage it with ease :)

Someone I know had one and it didn't :-X,it would on a run though if speed kept sensible legal :y

My old Rover 420SLDi used to get 40+ with me driving, and 55 with Mrs TB driving :P.
But it would not do 125mph uphill, no matter how hard it was pushed. So I've been led to believe.

Being serious for a mo, I'd suggest mid 20s around town, but a motorway cruise at "unlikely to get a tug" speeds I'd expect to achieve the stated combined figure?
-
according to this, around 25mpg in the real world, still bloody good though for a nigh on 3 ton V8 :y

And I would have one in a heartbeat at the right money although I'm liking the Touareg at the moment :y
