I was going to do that Serek but looking at the filter , seems that wont be easy :-\ I dont think its ever been changed . Ordered the parts now but ill keep the old filter an see if i can indeed clean it and re use :y
What would you use to clean it ? :-\

I think that's the recommended method, sort of thing. Fit a replacement filter, then leave the old filter in a sealed bucket full of petrol/white spirit/whatever, then, after 40k miles or whenever you fancy doing it, swap them back over. As a rule I think they need many hours or days even of soaking and rinsing etc.. to really clean the crud out - and ordinarily you want to just get the car back on the road, not wait several days.

Always get them from JPAT,plus they give the forum members a discount, had some fairly recently, not a lot of money think around 30 squiddish delivered, but will be interested as to how much your items from the US are going to cost and fingers crossed that they are the correct items....sort of a long way to send them back :-\

£25.89 including delivery , part was £14.28 :y Never heard of JPAT but bookmarked them now :y
-
If that was for the filter and gasket that seems very reasonable, perhaps we might be bookmarking your supplier if all goes well :y

Cheers henry , think i need to get a few tins of brake cleaner in then :y

Now over 10 years have gone by since the last Omega left the line Vx/GM no longer have to have parts available and what they do will become increasing expensive!
i.e. Door solenoids before the "10 year" break, £30, now £90 each! :o :o :o
If you still want genuine parts as I do, then the TC discounts really come into their own! :y :y

Unless EMD can get a TC card for 99p, he's not really interested.
However, I'd clean the filter, and if it is shagged, chat to JPAT.

If:
a) it won't clean or has excessive metallic debris in
b) the filter bit is split or otherwise damaged
Personally, I'd call JPAT (and mention OOF), and if a replacement is only a few quid, get one. Up to you then if you reuse old one and sell new one on... ...but at least you'll have one if you can't clean
-
Yep will give them a call tomorrow an see what the prices are , always handy to have another parts option :y
-
well the Vectra filter is an eye watering £235 + VAT ffs....oh and it is a Vauxhall part only...the parts guy said 'oh we don't sell many of these'...my reply was no I bet and you have not going to this time either :y

Yeah i rang several motor factors an none sold the filter although a few did sell the gaskets , i think this is where vx have got you and price these parts high :( Im yet to get to the filter to see if it does need changing , but its going to be handy to replace there an then if i do . I can see why most folk just clean them but £160 for a filter is way over the top .

We use Milner Off Road for new spare parts. :y
A lot of the 4x4 automatic transmission filters are around £26 + vat from them.
They do mostly Japanese bits but they may be able to help you, especially if yours is related to the Isuzu. :y
Bought loads of new bits from them, wheel bearings, UJ's, diesel fuel pump parts, filters etc. Always been very helpful so worth checking them first, and their prices take some beating. :y

I think you'll have fun fitting a filter in a FWD Vectra Auto box as the box has to be split, might be another reason we never sell any :y
