Hi
2 years ago a replace front wishbones on my 2.6V6 with swag 40 60 0014 and now I have to change again :-X
this time i consider to mount better one like powerflex PFF80-902 or maybe for BMW Mayle 31121136607MY (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=102167.15 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=102167.15))
any suggestions?
Does anybody mount Mayle bushes?
as I find GM bushes have dimension 58,5 56 14 and somewhere read that BMW have 58,0 48 14
-
I just equipped my MV6 with Powerflex wishbone and ARB bushes (in addition to Powerflex exhaust mounts). PFF80-902 is the correct part number :y
-
Indeed, just fit front Powerflex bushes and forget! Until the rear bushes fail!
-
Where in the world are you?
How many miles have those bushes lasted?
These for the front arm front bush...
http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/product-details/Front+Wishbone+Front+Bush/1760.html
And Genuine GM for the front arm rear (vertical) bush.
Alternatively get these if budget is an issue...

Best bet is to buy the set in the link and fit the Powerflex bushes before fitting them, then get the geometry set properly :y
-
they lasted 13000 miles
If I change wishbones with poly powerflex do I have to change and ARB bushes if they are OK?
THX

Entirely up to you... some people do change them, and some don't bother...
-
It is up to you, but safe to say you'd find it impossible to tell the difference if you did.
Personally don't see any reason to change the AR bushes, the ant roll bar only rotates inside it, so whether the bush is made from wood or rubber isn't affecting the dynamics of the car in the same way as the wishbone bushes do - which are designed to deform, that's how they work. You might even find some TD OOFers who still have their AR bushes in a bag - as the TD are notoriously a pain to fit, compared with 4cyl and V6 models.
-
Just to let you know...I had Powerflex bushes on bones and arb....cost about £80, I think. The front bones rear bushes I got from local Vauxhall, and they were £40 for the pair :y
-
That tallies with what I paid - got cheap n cheerful wishbones, but fitted (well, in precess of fitting) polys and genuine Vx bushes in, thus making a Vauxhall-spec wishbone for all-in about £90ish vs the mental money you'd pay now for Vx.
Time was at Billing they were doing Lemforders (when their reputation was 2nd to none) for £100 a pair... wish I had an Omega at the time, that was an investment, that.
-
I have just had new wishbones put on the 2.5. Due to technical reasons and time, I had to get Lemforders instead of powerflex on this car. Cost about £150 for the pair, but as I don't pay labour charges, I can live with that. Just a shame I never had time to get Powerflex.

I'm still not sure about the poly bushes....only I've heard that the ride gets fairly firm, and with my MV6's I find the ride pretty firm already and given the state of the roads I don't want to be having any more feedback from the road surface than at present, others will have a different view :-\

I have just put poly's on the front of the MV6 with new wish bones but have not taken it out yet, will have to get back to you as to how firm the ride is.
-
Don't believe it firms up the ride, certainly not found that on the three I've had polybushed. It just makes the steering more precise and transmits what the front wheels are doing more precisely through the steering wheel.
Firming up the ride is more a springs and shocks job in my opinion.

Just makes front a bit more positive.

I've had Powerflex poly bushings up front for 4 years now and can attest that VXR V6 and biggriffin are correct. Stiffer springs and firmer dampers will "firm up" the ride but poly bushes sharper steering response. My 2001 Cadillac Catera Sport turns in quicker than before and rides along with less slop at the steering wheel.
I have Pedders poly bushes meant for the GTO/Monaro in the rear too and there was absolutely no difference in the ride quality until I installed Koni Sport Struts & Shocks and GTO/Monaro springs at all 4 corners. The ride is now firmer but not harsh. The car feels more planted and wallows less in turns. I love it on a twisty mountain road. Not saying poly bushes improved the handling greatly but for me it was a begining.

One less thing to wear out as well :y

Not so much firms it up, more takes slack out. The sensation may appear similar at first.
Certainly doesn't make it harsh.

He did, I was very disappointed! ::) :-*

Driving a slobbery, floppy, nose-diving-into-corners TD which is fitted with Polys, I can only agree wholeheartedly with TB here. Does not firm the car up at all! Polys well worth the cost (which isn't much anyway) and don't adversely affect the omega 'waftability' :)
