Title: digital tacho
Post by: ckz on 29 January 2015, 20:49:21
just out of interest.
the vectras had some years back them digital tachos, similar to a knight rider version.

i also seen a calibra with one.

my interest would be - are they available for omegas ? or can they get fittet in an omega ?
and if so did someone on here ever do it?

not saying i want one, but again, that depends on how much work, and costs involved in a conversion like that.

Well the nice one.
Not the digi card thing. No need for that crap. Ha ha.

Any idea is available for omegas?

The Omega dash is pretty unique, so you'd have to fabricate something yourself, and possibly reprogram the onboard controller to match Omega signals.

Not impossible, but not gonna be plug and play.

I'd also add, having had previous GMs with a digidash, how nice it was to go back to proper dials.  Hence, why?

I know many didn't, but I liked the digi dash on my Senator  :y

Have to say I love the look of the digidash, always wanted a car with one... upon driving, a Shitroen I learned in had a digi speedo, and I hated the way it seemed to refresh in 2pmh increments, and there seemed to be a couple of second delay in the readout, which for a learner was nightmarish. I found myself constantly unable to maintain a constant speed, always overcompensating in either direction.

So would I have a digital dash? YES!  :D Can I be doing with the hassle (considering I have no electrical knowledge, nor the money to pay for someone with electrical knowledge)... NO  ;)

However, I wish anyone the best of luck who wishes to attempt it. And if there's a reasonably simple workaround, then would love to hear about it. Follow your heart R1!  :)

right,
i think it would give a very nice look, but as it is maybe a lot work and not even work properly at the end i keep my fingers of it.
i looked senaotr dash but the seem having less warning lights etc, althought they may would fit in the shape.

was a thought.

i may have too much times on my hand sometimes and looking for things i may would like on my cars, so i start thinking.
i may would do it myself if i ould know about electronics.  >:(

Senny dash is a very different shape, squarer and taller, than an Omega
