Your energy company is probably (mine is) doing a 'Warm Home discount scheme'
If you meet the criteria.....mine is giving £140 credit to your account....
I qualified on income (could be a problem if there are two incomes coming in) and having a medical exemption certificate....
but there are quite a few other criteria you may meet.
Worth a check :y

Mine (OVO) doesn't participate as they have less than the 250,000 customer base requiring them to offer it! Still, can't complain too much as their tariff is very good compared to the Big Six and they've just announced a gas price drop of 10.4% :o ;)

That's a good drop :y
Mine hasn't announced any drop in price....but on my last statement ... they said if I moved tariff to their fixed until March 2016, I would save about £50 on leccy and about £80 on gas, so Ive done that :y Even if they drop the gas price I'd still be better off on the fixed till march 2016 tariff :y

I've changed my supplier 3 times since Sept. getting a better deal every time, the last two with the same company, with no exit penalty. :y

Thanks for that, I'll get four elderly relatives "investigated".
A few years back , I heard that energy companies had grants for insulation and my Mum and Dad were sceptical. Went for it and they are saving money and it was free.

Just been on my suppliers web site and it says applications closed for this financial year 14/15 but to apply in the summer for next year >:(

Had my wall cavity and loft insulation done by British Gas under their Government scheme. Must say it has made quite
a difference. Well pleased. :)

That's unfortunate, but I recall seeing on my energy suppliers website it was only open for the first 4 thousand odd applications....still you now know when to apply for next year ;)
I had an email this morning, saying that to process my application I had triggered a random audit (yeah right, lol, bet they ask everyone!) and wanted proof of income and medical exemption certificate....so duly scanned tax return and plastic card and emailed back....
