Come on Lizzie and any other girls , its time to get your hands dirty ;D ;D ;D
Men work on cars and women cook. Men put up shelves and women make curtains. This used to be typical but not any more, with tasks in the home often shared equally.
Women's Car DIY Manual ::)

My woman was dyeing her hair when I started changing the struts on her Golf. She came down, in PJs and with a towel on her shoulders, declared that she wanted a go, then finished the job herself... she also did the PAS pump on Elvis, and can weld. I love her.

Exactly! Many of us can apply ourselves to far more than baby rearing and cooking. We started in our early days to learn we wanted to avoid the situation of relying on men to fix our cars or carryout DIY around the house. Nowadays women are lead engineers building atomic submarines, Crossrail, Airbus airliners, ships, etc, etc. Far more young women are applying their multi-tasking abilities to all kinds of employment once solely allocated to men. Respect girls, respect!! :y :y :y :y :y
As for that manual.....if it exists............how bloody condescending! We can read complicated manuals (which Haynes is not!) just as well as men and do not require separate publications! :o :o :o ::) ::) ::) :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D

Some of you can, Lizzie.. some of you also have trouble knowing which end of a screwdriver to hold.
But I know plenty of men like that, too.. ;D

I was amazed how they got away with the comment as stated on the web page :o :(

See now I think that a great idea for some sort of Meet. Where the women fix members cars, in their underwear or bikini for example whilst us chaps watch in awe :y

A great idea indeed. :y Do we need to form a vetting committee to meet all prospective mechanics and make sure they are suitably endowed mechanically competent? ;)

If Lizzie bends over the bonnet, I'll get the bastid straight in. ;D

I really get irritated by this 'empowering' rubbish there is about. Just like Lizzie says - it isn't gender-specific knowing what an EGR valve or a screwdriver is. Man or Woman, we can all pick up a Haynes, and read. There's nothing within those pages that should be any more confusing to a woman than a man. I wasn't born with a pre-programmed knowledge about cars, I learned. At one point in my life I didn't know what a torx is, I asked, looked it up, whatever, just like anyone else learns.
I really don't know why a woman isn't as capable at replacing a gearbox as a man is - but apparently, according to the book's blurb... you can learn "how to deal with a puncture, replace a brake light or even do an oil change" Wow! So witht he help of this book, you girls are actually capable of undoing a plug, refitting said plug, then pouring liquid from a bottle into a hole with a very obvious yellow cap! I bet you feel really empowered now! What next? Female Prime Ministers, Atheletes, perhaps some, with patience may become Doctors?! I roll my eyes at the PC world...

I blame the Pankhurst girls.
Women were more than happy 'attending' to their men before these upper class bints started giving our girls ideas above their station. :-\ :)

But some will never know how to use a spanner as long as they have a hole in their bum ...... I work with some of them ::). I didn't pick up a book before I stripped my first engine .... I just did it (and yes .... it did run again) There are some people in life that have a tendency to things mechanical & can work out how they work (MarkTDM :y), whereas others could read up on it all week & not have a clue how to start the job. Some people can cook exotic meals without the aid of a book ...... others would burn a pan of water even after reading the recipe book.

And they drive like girls on the M40 as well. Middle lane at 50, with break all else around.
Women in male bodies.

Re-reading this thread it's like changing channel and finding you're watching some 1970s stand-up comedy :). Would anyone like to reference how fat their mother-in-law is?
Sorry if I sound grumpy, it's just that it's only been a week since my girlfriend ran off with my best mate. I do miss him.
