I see that Sky Tv have now anounced that they have been given the rights to show the open Golf Championships, for me its not a problem as i do subcbribe. But for many its yet another nail in the coffin for free sport on terestioral Tv. Soon there will only Bog Snorkling to veiw for nowt. ;D

Sky seems to consist mainly of repeated old crap.....which I can get for free elsewhere. ;)

Virgin Media are the same, they probably get their content from the same providers.
The only difference for us is we pay £49.99 for the whole lot, which means I get ripped off a lot less financially and get more product for it so that softens the blow slightly.

My sky is seventy quid. I get landline, broadband, line rental and tv with the entertainment(ha!) and sports package. Not that bad, considering I do love my sport.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens over the next few years as TV goes from broadcasting to 'on-demand' over the Internet. Will the incumbent broadcasters survive with new entrants like Microsoft, Google and Apple or will it become more diverse? What is going to change is that content will be king. In the US the major sports franchises are finding going direct means they can make more money, will the same happen with major sports here?
The BBC annual TV tax will become unenforceable, so the Government/BBC will to have to find other methods of raising revenue. This might be subscriptions / advertising or combinations of the two or other payment forms that have not been applied to this arena yet.
Sky will survive as Uncle Woopert is aware how TV is evolving and has been changing Sky for sometime, which is why they have been investing more in their own 'entertainment' content.

yes I only have standard plus freeview and tbh freeview is pepeated crap,if you didn't see it at 7 you can watch it at 8 on +1 and if you miss that it will be on the channel +2 and then more 4 then e4 then e4+1 then 24/7 and if you manage to miss all them chances it will all be repeated next week ;D
