hi all I've bought some new 2.5 v6 cam covers from vx but they are the later ones that have the bigger holes for the coil pack....after inspection they look like a perfect fit just with bigger holes...... :-\ they ok to use?????
-
Cant see any reason why the newer style wouldnt fit the older engine..ie with plug leads and dispack.
Wouldnt work the other way though as newer style engines have seperate coil packs for each side of engine,so older style cam covers wouldnt work.
Others may have a different view though

Only extra thing to really consider is the rubber plug lead cap does for a seal of sorts with the cam cover and stops dirt/and water from getting into the plug well.
On second thoughts I think you would be wiser replacing them with correct style though as long term issues could arise with contamination getting into plug well etc.
Trip back to Stealers to reorder is my best advise now :)

i have read through other posts that it is ok....i see what your saying regarding dirt and water though but i clean the breathers every 6 months so i am considering putting them on........confidently :)
-
ha ha the stealers...love it.....although the gaskets are a lot better than the cheeps i keep putting on.....

Before you remove the old ones, trial fit a plug lead on a spark plug... if it fits nice and securely, then no reason why they can't be used imho :-\
Any water will soon evaporate off a hot engine, and the oil seals follow the same pattern, so you'll have no issues there either... the only significant water issue on the 2.5/3.0 is the dispack getting wet :y

yep all finishedand and tested...perfect ;)

Glad its sorted and fits fine :y
