Title: From the 1st March 2015.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 04 February 2015, 13:49:21
I.....I mean we.... become a member of the RAC.

Joint membership with any number of cars. £80.

The policy is called 'Roadside with nationwide recovery'

The AA refused to compete so boll*cks to them.

I need to di this too.. I pay my AA membership monthly for 2 cars.. The miggy and an 05 plate tigra... Its now going to be £19.75 per month for the same cover you have... Not impressed by that so a change is imminent.

We have been with the AA for the last seven years. No call outs during this period. (Omega do not break down ::) ::) ::)). They rewarded my loyalty by loading our premium to the tune of 83%. :(

They wouldn't budge......so 'f*ck em'

They've informed me they would have reduced my monthly premium from £19.45 to £12 if I stay with them... Too late I tell them RAC won the day. :)

No idea.. She wasn't impressed I was leaving as I'm a " gold" member that takes 5 years to gain and could I reconsider? Noni said I joined RAC 10 mins earlier.. If your price hadn't gone up I wouldn't have noticed and would still be with you..

Of all the breakdown providers I have ever used, RAC were the absolute worst.

I have had them FOC on a car I had previously, 2 call outs and both times they behaved as though I was asking them for money.

Then like an idiot, I actually paid for a policy a couple of years ago. Probably drawn in by the cheaper price compared to the AA. We broke down with a small child in the car and the response time quoted was 6 hours. Allegedly that was the standard response time for that day. And no there wasn't any snow or natural catastrophes that had occurred either.

In JC's words, I would rather have gonorrhea than pay to be a RAC member.

I've used both the AA and RAC over the years. Can't say I noticed much difference.

I've gone the DD route at £6.66 a month..... with no extra premium to pay, unlike STMO and his car tax.  :P :P :P ;)

I opted to pay in one installment just so there was one less DD to think about in our monthly outgoings.. Infact I changed our house insurance today too for the same reason and went from £300 a year to £60.... 😊

I was with the RAC for a couple of years some time ago and called them out twice.  The first I waited about 3 hours for them to turn up and the second time they phoned back and said they'd be about 4 hours.  :o  I told them not to bother.  >:(

I've been with Rescuemycar.com for a few years now and it's terrific value if you don't call them out as they have low premiums, but you pay an excess everytime you call them.  So call them out more than once and it's not such a good deal, however I can't fault their service as I've had someone with me within about an hour each time!  :y

They can't open deadlocked Omegas with the keys in the boot though.  ::)  ;D

Ah that helps a lot.. of course you reminded me that mine is due and I should shop around; when I checked it renews tomorrow so I've left it a bit late now!  :(

£360 with Admiral on renewal or I could have got it for £210 with LV.. better phone Admiral tomorrow and see if it's too late!

I too have had issues with RAC, but could be as it was part of a large account, maybe we got poor service. 6 hours for them to come and fix a puncture. I remember it was a bloody cold evening :(

My bank supplied Aa cover includes everything except accident recovery... Home start is handy to have just in case... But quite expensive if you have to pay for it directly :-\

Its quite expensive when you consider the monthly bank charges to!

The company I would advise against is Green Flag, to many little T&Cs that will leave you stuck......as happened to me sadly!

Joined the AA almost a year ago though Top Cash Back was supposed to get around £38 back never did though.

Probably go for which ever is cheapest this time round without cash back....

For info, you only get cash back if you pay as a single payment, not monthly :y

Typical, Bloody typical...  ;D

First time I've used a 'cash back website' and it goes tits up  ::)

"Hello TopCashbacker!
