Title: finding air leak on a diesel
Post by: omegod on 06 February 2015, 16:15:24
I'm familiar with the old carb spray trick on petrol's to find an air leak but does the same work on a diesel ?

The thing with a diesel is that you have very little vacuum in the intake system due to the fact that it's not throttled. If there is a leak, it will manifest itself as a leak of boost pressure on full load, but it won't draw significant air in at idle.

A good visual inspection is probably the best you can do, although I believe you can use smoke to diagnose it.

What are the symptoms?
