Title: Rear window
Post by: system1357 on 07 February 2015, 03:42:10
Sorry if this had been asked before ,but I don't have the time to query through all posts inside the forum
Anyway, the rear windows on my omega  b 1996 won't go down entirely. It just stops at 1/4height and refuses to go down more.
It seems to be a manufacturer setting since both windows work fine and has no sign of a faulty motor.
Is there a way to disable that?
Thanks in advance.

Note the height of the window & note the space it's got to wind down in ......... ::) ::)

Same for all cars where rear door has a cut out for rear wheel arch - not enough room ;)

It not hard to notice the shape of wheel arch in door, unlike front doors  :y

I could be wrong but I always thought the rear windows in all cars since the late '70s were designed not to roll down completely. It's assumed that children will sit in the rear and those few inches of glass is supposed to keep them from climbing out. The wheel cut-out thing does make sense though.

A few cars over the years have had a quarter light at the rear of the back door allowing a squarer window that will wind down all/most of the way ..... but not in the case of an Omega  ;)

Omega rear door forms the wheel arch, which was traditionally wasn't the case :y

All Omegas have rear quaterlights, both A and B... ::)
