Title: Knock Sensor
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 16 February 2015, 14:49:03
Where is the offside one?  The cable disappears over the top of the alternator...  ::)

When I reassembled after changing the headgaskets I didn't route the cable properly and it was rubbing on the auxbelt, so yesterday I tried tucking it up behind the tensioner and it's caught and snapped!  :(  :(  :(

I'm guessing it's a complete basteward to change?  ::)  :'(

1 hour tops on v6 to change
Remove bagpipes.
Remove alternator belt.
Remove alternator.

Knock sensor is bolted to the block behind were the alternator was  :y

Refit it the reverse  ;D
One thing to remember ................ carefully clip the sensor wire up and be careful when refitting the alternator because its very easy to trap the sensor wire and knacker it  ;)

Not like i'm talking from experience or anything  ::) :-X :-[ ;D

Tried it both ways after I trapped the friggin wire replacing mine

Unless you have very skinny hands, its much less hassle if you stick a 15mm spanner on the tensioner, remove the belt then remove the alternator   :)
