It appears that the scrap price of cars has dropped dramatically ...today i was quoted......£53.....£60....£80....for the complete desmond by 3 different scrap collections...and it runs and has an m.o.t untill august.......is this correct or is it a stitch up.... :-\ :-\
-
worth more if you were to drive it in I would think :-\
Cash for scrap car collection down here is a lot lower than driving them in ::)
It's not a green one is it ? ::) ::) ::) ::) Z380 ? :P :P
-
Commodity prices have fallen considerably due to weak demand, it is not confined to oil, so yes prices will be lower.
-
ha ha £63 was for driving it in....and sorry its not green..its burgundy.... :y

They are taking the pish mate ;)
I had a pikey bastid bang on my door last week and offer me 100 notes to take away (what's left of) my scrapper.
After a quick chat, he said that scrap around here is currently running at 105 quid a ton :)

wow ! :o :o :o :o :o . . price has dropped .
I weighed in a bit of copper & brass last week but it was only down by about 10% from previous visit
Shame about the colour . . :'( :'( :'(
I think my krypton green 3.2 elite may look a bit odd with a couple of Burgundy doors on it ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Worth a shout though ;)

I do work for 2 different scrap yards and its bad. Over here its 50 a ton. Its goin to be worse than 2008. For, they reckon, a year as emr ( a big scrap dealer) is loading a boat as we speak, if it was set to rise they would have waited. Nobody is buying scrap and some of the big buyers around the world have started selling. Even copper is half the price it was here!
The price is dropping daily, from what they told me.

Surely, a running Omega will fetch £150 at least on ebay. What's wrong with it, for it to be scrapped?
-
dont know if i can be asked with the time wasters on ebay...regards whats wrong with it,not a lot...noisey cam follower on start up...then goes away after a while......drives well and auto box good...lots of dosh spent last 12 months.....just dont want the agro with time waster on ebay..so if scrap is that low ...will have a think whether to break it myself for spares for the other one i have or if not i will put an add on here in the appropriate section with all of the details at a later date and see what happens,,,,thanks for the info about the scrap prices around the country.. .....as just could not believe what I was being quoted....:y :y

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I want the rear bumper if its mint ;D ;D ;D

Just ran my registration through Motorwise. Used them before and they were excellent.
£114 if I drive it to local scrappy or £33 if I take it to Congleton in Cheshire !
Prices are obviously way down. :(
-
I got £250 for our old 2.0L Estate, about 4 years ago and they collected it........ :)
-
looks like I'll have to keep hold of my scrap brass & copper till it goes back up in price ....... :-\
-
I'm about to scrap my winter hack feista and have been told not to expect much! That's how I know the recent prices.
-
Drove by local scrappy yesterday . . . large place . . . almost empty of cars . . . usually means he has cleared out at best possible rate & that prices are gonna fall even more ::)
As Andy says . . time to start storing the scrap copper & brass in the shed till things improve again :(
What we have gained on fuel being low . . . we lose on something else ::) ::)
-
I got a quote last week for what I could get for my omega should it catastrophically fail the mot - top offer I had was £95
-
Wow prices low! >:(
Which irritates me all the more that the Elite V6 in my local scrappy 'had' to crush it (ok, I'd got loads of parts off it, but only yesterday evening I was thinking - 'ooh worth picking up some spare wishbone and caliper bolts, as them ones on the scrap car were excellent... oh, never mind' I know for a fact the other two in have heavy miles and will be in the same state as mine. Yes I know, I can pick up blts anywhere, but point still stands - there was a fair few bits bn bobs on the car that may have come in for me or another OOFer - and for the scrap yard to maybe get under a ton a ton, well that's just silly. Oil cooler plate, air con rad and piping and spoiler would have got them the entire car's scrap value. All three I'd have had if I'd had the time.
Oh, and the alloys (yes FL Elite 17" alloys) got scrapped at probably £15 each or whatever, before I got chance to make an offer.
Scrap's low, but at the same time they're not helping themselves if they're leaving literally hundreds of £sworth of stuff still on the things when they cube them. Ah well, I got loads, shouldn't grumble, and some of those parts have gone onto OOFers and are now fitted to cars for hopefully years to come :)
-
Omega's are top weight saloons , no wonder they scrap them quick . Shame to see so many good examples cubed :( Cant save them all but there are still a few breakers selling just omega parts , but for how long :(
-
Got £150 for my PFL 18months ago, (drove it there). Lots of good stuff on it but the majority of people just have,nt got the room to keep it whilst they break it. Also, when it starts to get to the partly dismantled stage, some of the neighbours start to get a bit huffy. :D
-
All scrappies are pikeys. Ring again tomorrow, and next day and so on.
Goldie, they initially offered free collection, but after a few days of calling, we got to a sensible price.
-
