This car is a can of worms. The engine, fitted with new head gasket and running well - will not idle when hot, choosing instead to run at between 2000 and 4000rpm. I have changed the AICV, no change. When idling fast if I remove the hose to the AICV and put my hand over the end, the engine immediately stops, so no air leak. My last idea is the ECU coolant temperature sensor. Any other suggestions?
The heater fan does not work. Fuse (17) is OK. On all speed settings fan does not turn. There is a resistor stack somewhere, but the Rover forum tell me fan should always run on higest setting. Failed motor? Any other ideas?

There is a resistor passenger side,could be blown motor but run a 12v direct to it to check,check vacum pipes are right way around,make sure inlet manifold is seated correctly,had this on frontera forum,engine just reved ,and was down to manifold not sitting right.

The idle probably needs investigating with a Testbook. Shame you're so far, as I have a T4 Mobile here.
Fan - need to start investigating. Nought complex with it, so just trace it through bit by bit :y

If it was the resistor you'd probably find you'd have the high setting and none/only some of the other settings.
Check you're getting voltage to the motor. If not work backwards down circuit. If voltage getting through stick 12v via a battery (or if you have a fancy power probe) through the motor. No running - dead motor :y

Although it won't be the resistor, I have a spare set (pattern) here from when I had my Rover. You just solder them in. Yours if you want them, just PM me address.

I remember repairing the one on my dad's old 416 with some ceramic resistors.
