Just been having a look at those hyundai tincan that Mr 4x4 posted up. Owner reviews are great, I reckon they'd last forever.
-
Are these things ever used on the rough?
Just like the Range Rooney most never see a muddy field.
-
Ermmm.....don't know :-\ according to the reviews, they are great in the snow though. I kinda like them for the same reason I like my orlando....different. I like different.
-
Use mine every day across the fields where I walk my dogs , it copes very well is great in the snow as well.

Anal warts are different. :)

And both the 1.8 manual Vectra C and 3.2 Omega are very capable in snow... ;D

My little bro has a Santa Fe which seems to be a reliable, robust bus now we've sorted out the rich running. Trouble is, and I've heard it before with Hyundai, pattern parts are hard to get, and most of the shite that the likes of euroshiteparts sell simply do not fit.
-
Only ever use genuine parts on all my cars ,but to be honest the genuine Hyundai parts are no dearer than vx .On the Hyundai forum there was a cut away pattern filter compared to a genuine it looked crap to me ,like anything pay your money / make your choice.

Filters in particular I always use genuine.
Bro is finding Hyundai parts quite dear (£50 for a fuel filter for eg), not sure if that's just because its a Santa Fe, which looks like it was always destined for Jap and US market, and euroland it's not so common.

we have the I40's at work and they seem a comfy enough car...seem to be well equip as well :y

Got to admit I quite like my Hyundai bought this when my omega packed up

SWMBO used to have a Lantra. Parts from the dealers were stupidly priced ........ £30odd for a CV joint rubber dust cover
-
All depends what you call dear, if a part wears out after a few years use & it costs £30.00 to replace it with a genuine item I would have no problem with that, I simply do not like pattern parts on my vehicles , each car is built to a certain specification & for my own peace of mind as long as I own the vehicle that is how it will stay .

SWBMO's car got A N Other CV joint supplied by my mate's motorfactors at a price of 3 quid. Around the same time, I bought the complete CV joint, gaiter, grease & tie wraps for a Cavalier for around £30. Depends which pattern parts & how much the dealer is trying to extort from you for the OE part

My sister collects hers on Sunday. They're the closest thing to a modern Capri you can get.

Even down to the rusty wheel arches... ;D

Rusty arches on a Capri are not the worst problem; the whole A-pillar/screen surround structure is much worse/harder to fix.
The GT86 is just one car with a very odd spec. Capris were a whole range, using prosaic mechanical bits and so is the Hyundai. It even has a slightly disappointing V6. Similar size and prices too.
As for RWD, that's no longer a requirement for me. It's just something I'd prefer.
