As per title please. My memory is a little hazy, but I think there's a black and a grey plug for the CID (Colour Screen), both are required please :y
-
Errr, shouldn't the 32(?) way one already be present?
-
It's not to retrofit, it's to replace a potentially faulty one :y

Twiglet had some at some point, might be worth a pm. ;)

Faulty plug? Assuming no ham fisted idiot has been in there, they don't fail.
Symptoms?

Oh, and I have retrieved the tech2 now :)

was advised ham fisted idiot at vx had snapped the locking clip so held on with tape. I think this could be why its on one minute and a white screen the next.

Might have one of each somewhere.
Although my first elite had the plug tab snapped off. Didn't affect it, as the lever still hinges over. It's just not locked down. Tbh I cant really see that being the cause unless it's come completely adrift...?
But then I guess you've been in there and had a look, re seated it? .... and it's still playing up?

Sounds like a possible panel issue, I've made up a test loom using standard IDC plugs before (as that's the basis of the plug) and it worked fine, the latch is more of an aid to removing the plug from the unit rather than holding it in IMHO.

Clip in question is sound :y
Doesn't click latched but it is otherwise intact and working. It has previous had a modest dollop of grey camcover goo added, which seems to offer enough friction to stop it popping undone. In reality, it is unlikely to ever work loose even without.
Issue does seem to be either within the unit or the other end of the loom as no amount of jiggling/knocking/tapping made any difference to the display (or lack of).
The display itself, even if blank, dims with the lights/dimmer.

Should ad, when radio is on the display is on and blank rather than dead and blank. Which suggests that the screen basically functions but is either recieving duff info or is having trouble processing it :-\
Of course, I make no claims to being a certified wrangler of the magic smoke though, so I could be totally wrong ::)

No, that's a shagged LCD panel
