Title: VW Touran 2.0 TDi Sport - Cruise control not work now :(
Post by: DrAndyB on 01 March 2015, 11:50:31
Hi,

Went to drive the wifes Touran (05 Plate 2.0 TDI Sport DSG) and the cruise control not work  :(

Light on dash should come on when turn switch on indicator stalk to on, and NO light !!  It has done this once a while ago, but a turn engine off and on and all Ok !

Its not playing ball at all now.

Usual suspects are:

Maybe common issue of Golf Mk 5 and Golf Plus as share much DNA !

One suggestion is new indicator/cruise stalk.   I have done this my Dads Face Lift Omega (Desmond - CD model to retro fit Cruise  :y).  Easy as not need to remove the steering wheel, but I can't seemed to find if the same applies for Touran.  I don't fancy removing the wheel and airbag in face  :-[

Any thoughts ?

Good news... the steering wheel screw can be reused upto five times :y

Bad news... it's a VW. Actually you already know that ;D Steering wheel needs to come off to remove the cowling ::)

Haynes '04- Golf/Jetta manual tells you everything you need to know... won't repeat it here as the four chapter jumps will confuddle even the most committed Haynes fan...

For example...

Chapter 12 Body electrical systems: Removing Indicator/Cruise/Wiper Stalk...
Step 1. Remove steering wheel as described in Chapter 10...

Chapter 10 Steering and Suspension: Removing Steering Wheel...
Step 1. Remove Airbag as described in Chapter 12...

Haynes should rate jobs by the number of Tamazepan boxes required to do each task rather than spanners ;D

Many thanks.  Yep, had more issues with VW than with my MLF V6 Omega !!  :y :y :y

I'll take up road the VW Specialist to plug in.  Not bad chaps there and better than the Stdealer !

the only motorways within striking distance from me are M1 and M62. No chance of keeping up a constant speed on either of them.
Suppose I could go out at three in the morning, if I had cruise control.  ;D

Yep, I wondered why there was a pedal missing  :D

Am taking to VW specialist Saturday for diagnostic.  Will post outcome and fix for those interested at weekend.  Suspicions are indicator stalk cruise switch faulty (I have removed and cleaned but no joy)  or brake pedal switch (brake lights work, but there is a secondary contact I understand).

Will keep posted. :y
