Title: question about the lads corsa
Post by: tigers_gonads on 05 March 2015, 12:32:44
1.3 cdti on a 54 plate.
The cars had a new radiator fitted fairly recently but looses water.
They is strong evidence of anti freeze on the bottom wishbones underneath the bottle so my guess is its either got a cracked bottle or a dodgy cap.
Ever since I have flushed the system, it has started blowing the pipe off the water pump.
The pipe is a pretty loose fit but air now seems to be getting in the system since the flush,

First question is ............. Do all corsa c's have the same bottle ?
Second question is .............. Is they anything else I should be looking at ?

Other then this, the car runs and goes great  :y

TIA  :)

I'll also add that i've just swapped the cap with the one off the omega so i'll see if it makes any difference over the next few hours

Any blowing off is not a good thing, hints at high pressure or a loose connection.

Remember that if something is lose or leaking then as the system cools down, air can get drawn in as well as coolant ejected when hot.

Hope it is as simple as that  :-\

When I re filled it yesterday, I double clamped the water pump hose and had it running with the coolant bottle side jacked up for a good 60 minutes outside the house while burping every hot pipe I could find.
Had the laptop plugged in and the fan cut in at 95 degree's so I know that works  :y
I may be probably am looking at this engine wrong but were the hell is the stat ?
The bottom radiator pipe goes onto the pump and the top (or more in the middle) enters into the engine block with what looks like some sort of plastic insert / adaptor  :-\

I've done a good 25 miles this morning (stop / start) with no problems so fingers crossed that the cap swap off the omega has helped somewhat.

Thanks Mark  :)
