In my younger days, I found £100,000 in the back of a van. The doors on it were locked so I just popped them open with a thermal lance. :)
-
Nah I checked with everyone that it wasn't theirs. . . It was also rusty so had been there for some time. Wire wheeled it. Job done :y
-
Best place to find stuff is under the back seats , or if its an omega the chassis rails 8)
-
We found a snap-on adjustable wrench (pipe wrench, not a spanner :y) on my sons truck steering rod. Funny thing was, he had track rods fitted about three months prior to that so it had hung on well. ;D
-
I've found several in various places on various aircraft while doing the walkround pre-flight. Some I still use. :y

This takes me back, Tool Boxes are checked in and out in the RNAS and we lost a spanner, had to virtually strip a Wasp Helicopter until it was found, grounded till we did........ :D :D
-
I see lots of tools driving cars........does that count? ;D ;D ;D
-
I recall asking for an MR2 mk1 I was looking at to be put up on the ramps and finding a nice Makasa screwdriver on the front subframe but have since lost loads, 10mm spanners and 13mm sockets in particular for some reason :-\
-
A member left here with a T40 Torx bit somewhere between the coolant bridge and gearbox... ::)
-
A pair of vice grips still attached to the nearside flexy brake hose.. ;D ;D
-
We bought a smashed Lotus Elan years ago to rebuild and sell on - found part of a guy's scalp behind drivers seat :o
-
Pretty old well made tyre pressure measuring tool.
-

Nowt has changed,my oldest lad is an AET on 771 sqd at Culdrose and the kit is still counted out and back in :y
-
I've never found any, but I have lost a few - a 10mm socket disappeared inside a chassis member on my old MR2, never to be retrieved again.
I also lost the oil filler cap on that car .. only to find it several years later when we removed the bumper and it dropped out from between that and the arch liner ;D
I do have an adjustable spanner that has "NEIL" engraved on it.. my Dad found that in the MT section car park ;D
-
When we drained the sump on 47292 we found in the crud in the sump, 14 spanners, 5 sockets and a 1/2 ratchet....and the spanners were far from small

My colleague used to work on Vulcans in the RAF. Apparently a table and chairs was found in one of the fuel tanks on an aircraft following reports of a knocking sound when manoeuvring after a lengthy overhaul. ;D

That would take some doing in a bag tank!.......I did hear stories of multiple sets of golf clubs being brought over from the US in the bomb bays and tail chute compartment

I have several Snap-on tools found in scrap cars, including a couple of ratchets which are scruffy, but still usable. a quick look through scrap or salvage cars is always worthwhile, as we often find enough change to buy lunch!
Under the backseat of one my Capris I found three, different single stockings. I'll leave the rest to your imagination, but I can guarantee that everyone involved was short ;D

That reminds me of one night about 20 years ago walking through a car park on my way to the pub and I noticed a parked up Capri rocking slightly and there were 2 feet firmly planted up against the windscreen! ;D
-
;D ;D ;D
How short nick? ;D
-
Shorter than me!
And if she's taller than me, it leads to lots of the wrong sort of moaning ;)

Got my very first 3.0 elite from an autotrader Ad. . . from Reigate way. Went & viewed the car , paid a deposit . Went to collect the car on the saturday morning . Nice couple in their early forties, she made us all a nice cuppa . Done the deal , drove home, cleared out the boot etc. in the afternoon & found 2 very explicit photos of the sellers wife . She may have been . . . um . . Brazilian ;D ;D ;D and possibly practiced yoga to get in those positions :o :o
As regarding tools . . found a torque wrench in one purchase :y

Not that big... but certainly big enough

154 gallons in the vast sump......so drop a spanner and you need wellies to find it!
Hence if you drain the oil and also clean the crud out, you find loads of stuff ;D
-
;D On paper, that sounds alot, but that's only 40 20litre drums, which laid out in 5x8 isn't that big...
Clearing one out must be a horrific job :-\

Nothing an old dustpan plus buckets cant sort (to shift the thick crud and discover the tool content) followed by a few tins of panel wipe with a mop n bucket (to remove the rest)........polish to finish lol.
-
Found another tool today ;D ;D ;D
A nice little funnel. Really narrow, presumably for brake fluid or summat :-\
-
....was sitting lonely in the engine splash shield ;D
-
Splash shield? American or what?
-
Found 3 VX rubber mats today and a posidrive screwdriver... I wonder Who left them here ;D ;D ;D ;D
