when changing the HBV on 2.2cd I removed the scuttle, I noticed that one of the hoses was burst anyway ordered part from Vauxhall so left scuttle off. had a bit of an emergency that evening and had to use the car for a short distance, anyway did it not start to rain, after about 5 mile car starts rattling and EML came on. Fault code p0303 misfire in 3. Have changed plugs still code appears, put in another coil although not new and code still appears. reason for changing HBV was no hot air in the cabin, have some white smoke from exhaust. Is my head gasket blown or is there something I've missed that could have got wet I.e.

Any steam from exhaust or further coolant loss?
-
Have started having coolant loss over the last few days.
-
Any steam from exhaust? Smell in header tank?
Misfire at idle but ok at higher revs (before it shuts down the injector)?
-
Smoke or steam when sitting at lights. Have not noticed any smell from header tank but was foamy. Feel it chugging also on idle
-
If you're getting Definite steam from exhaust then likely HG
Seen a lot of 4 pots fail lately!
-
Thought so. Cheers.
-
Easy enough job if you're ok twirling a few spanners? :y
-
whats the mileage......i have had two that have blown before 100,000 miles....common problem with 2.2... :'( :'(
-
This is the second time its happened, so need to try and do it myself as its not financially worth it to pay hundreds to get it fixed again.

too daunting garage it is. LOL

Get rid! You will only be throwing good money after bad believe me I know!!! After 3...yes THREE 2.2's all blowing headgaskets more than once plus gearbox problems I wouldn't have one given free! Stick to the full fat V6 versions
-
Before condemming it, pull out the coil pack and post up a pick of it, esp the bit around pot 3 :y
-
Do the 2.2's smoke from the exhaust like the 3.0l does?can't say as I've ever noticed but could it just be this and water loss down to such as HBV?

Changed HBV with no effect

My 2.2 is on 179k, still on its original head gasket. Coolant service is key, for the minimal cost I change and flush the coolant every 2 years.
I suspect I'm on borrowed time, but shall see.
