Title: Been in the Garage today...
Post by: Chopsdad on 03 July 2008, 21:27:33
After all the men clambering in the back and underneath my car at the weekend, I ended up with a clatter from the back whenever I went over a bump that wasn't there before.

I went back to the camp site on my way home, undercover of course, as I had officially checked out and would be charged car parking fees or shot for tresspassing....anyway....I borrowed Kevin Wood's ears but couldn't isolate the noise as the roads were to smooth and the boot was loaded with the old exhaust and other stuff.

When empty it was worse, so I stopped off in Keswick today and up it went on the ramps.....guess what was wrong??????

Well so you can all go to bed, the culprit(s) were 2 loose shocks.

The top bolts took at least 1 or more full revolutions to lock tight said the nice garage man.

Rattle gone, ride hight sorted once the boot was empty and it now it drives round corners better, all in all a job well done.

I can only applogise on behalf of Entwood for one side!  ;D
Seriously, the nearside was tightened up to within an inch of its life to start with, but then we backed it off to about 4 or 5 threads showing so it was the same as the driver's side. The driver's side shocker was then tightened up to about how it was before  :-[
I think it must have been the fault of bloke underneath the car poking the shocker up through the rear arch!  ::)  ::)  :y  :y

:o  :o Tusshh! Not a drop had passed my lips. I was only walking passed Marks car & I ended up beating 10 colours out of helping fit the exhaust & the dampers.

Excuse my ignorance, but what are "heat shields" on an Omega?

I thought they were fitted to spacecraft to protect them on re-entry.  I've just looked at the Omega manual, and I can't find a section on spaceflight, so is this something the wizards can program in with the Tech 2 thingy? :)

Fitted between exhaust and chassis :)
