I want to thank everyone for the tremendous support that we have received since the inception of the project. It mustn’t be forgotten that we would never have been able to reach this point in the rollercoaster history of this unique project without the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, a number of extremely generous individuals, including most recently Eddie Forrester, Managing Director of Aerobytes, whose latest donation has funded our appearance here at Waddington and which will also ensure our appearances at RIAT at Fairford and Farnborough later this month.

Saw it on the local news here in Lincolnshire.
Beautiful looking plane, loks so modern considering its age.. :y
-
That is fantastic news, it is surely one of the most gracious and stunning planes ever to grace the skys, and the history of it's service makes it's a very worthwhile restoration, Can't wait to see it in the sky again :y
-
Just got to hope one ofthe RIAT competitions comes up good

Aeroplanes can overcome gravity easily enough on the most part but, these days, overcoming the force of paperwork is becoming the biggest issue.
I can say this with some authority as our glider has picked up several more reams of it this year. >:(
I'm glad the Vulcan has overcome the red tape - for now, at least. Right. Time to blag some Farnborough air show tickets... ::)

The thing thats not reported well is that yesterday it achieved two milestones and that is very important.
1) Its permit for flight
2) Its permit to display!
The latter being key or it would be nothing more than a ground exhibit at the weekend. This was completed yesterday following two successful displays in front of a CAA assessor.
I hope to see it on out annual pilgrimage to Fairford next weekend......just need to try to get out of the pubs for the first time in 7 years!

A beautiful plane and a tribute to the British aircraft industry. Remember that? When we used to make all sorts of things rather than sub-contract to the rest of the world and then whinge when the rest of the world puts it's prices up :(
Still, congrats to the team that put it back together and have achieved so much. More, much much more than a single penstroke from some Civil Servant to order it grounded.

Yep. Been and seen all the wind tunnels rotting away at Farnborough, or being bulldozed and replaced by empty office blocks. >:(

I think that's wonderful :)

A long time ago, I read that the manuals and specifications for the Boeing 747 occupied more space and weighed more than the aeroplane itself.
It's a good job we've got computers these days, otherwise with the uncontrolled proliferation of documentation today, we would have already deforested the entire planet. :)

Sadly, its all still paper work as that is the only acceptable form of media for CAA approval.
The paper work for XH558 is very large indeed!

They could have at least LPG'd it during that time. With a bomb bay full of 90 ltr tanks, it would have paid for itself within a year or so. ;)

that will be a very sad day indeed. could do with tinkerbell sprinkling some fairy dust on her so she can fly forever and never get any older.
