Title: Whatsupp free phone calls.
Post by: Varche on 31 March 2015, 14:42:51
I don't have a twitter, whatsupp etc but read somewhere that calls between whatsupp users were going to be free. Presumably to enable people to advertise their whatsupp "handle" and punters to ring free.

Whatsupp is really popular in Spain. Anyone know if it is true and the limits e.g. International.?

I think roaming charges come off 3 from 1st April making calls to other 3 users free. (my dad and brothers)

Like all IP based solutions (and there are better ones), its absolutely reliant on a good internet connection.

When I go abroad, I use my Zoiper app on my iPhone, hooked up to my UK Sipgate account. Then abuse a restaurant's wifi to call home at 1ppm (or free to family members using sipgate)

4G with EE and calls and texts within Europe are free.  :y

Oddly calls from UK to a number in Europe are charged though.

That's interesting. We have 3 phones on EE on 4G and all came with the free European calls. When we make them they come up as chargeable on Roaming Angel but we don't get billed for them. Latest one is free 0800 calls as well so maybe it's a newish thing.

I know BT (and EE MVNO) are offering free 0800 calls. I also know that my 0800 calls are chargable on my EE account.
