Well after having to pay up to get new rocker gaskets and coil packs fitted. I notice water dripping out the radiator!! The car is a v6 2.6 is it a major strip down to to get the rad out , as I'll have to do it myself after being left absolutely skint after the previous disaster. Thanks martinH

Where is it leaking from? Exactly...

In a word, no, fairly straightforward. :y

Might not require replacement... but does rather depend on where the leak is :-\

Looking the engine bay it's on the right about midway down I think.

Have a read here of a recent Thread :y

If you mean the battery side, there are two thermoswitches... could simply be a failed seal on one of these... both are cheap and easy to replace. :y

I like the sound of leaky switches . Will check it out, no doubt knowing my luck I'll be back tomorrow for another option.
-
Check the drain plug at the bottom as well. ;) :y
-
Never seen one leak at the sensors, the drain plug can sometimes leak but usually after it's been disturbed. The one in my 2.6 was leaking where the plastic / abs side tank is joined to the main radiator. Only answer was a new radiator.
-
On an Omega I have seen leaky drain plug, leaky thermoswitch, cracked tank seam, and good old fashioned leaking core.
Pop the battery off for access/visbility and starting with the drain plug look for evidence...
If above the plug is dry, then the plug is the issue, if not move up to the next thing etc :y

Possibles.
Drain plug seals. Easy.
Switch seals. (And they ARE dowty washers I don't care what any bigger says on here)
Or as on mine, the end cap seal.
Disintegrated radiator fins.
All except the top one, may as well swap the rad out for a good one given the amount of work required. Two new dowty washers on the switches, sorted.
But if a fiddle to get the rad in and out but basically straightforward. Possibly because I left the battery in.

The leak is crack 1/2 way down the rad. there's bracket that's pulled away I stuck some Radseal in it. It worked the trade off is it now runs a lot hotter
-
If that's a coolant additive then you will rue the day you did that... :-X
-
It was. So far so good. But I am on the lookout for a replacement radiator. I think it has upset the thermostat which has always run cold, but now runs hotter I can't swallow the the terrible cost of a Vauxhall garage Changing it. Hey ho

The trouble with additives is that they may block important pathways, and bung up the heater matrix as well. Radiator swap is very straightforward. :y
