My solenoid was playing up but I could just unlock with the remote and open the door with the key. Now when I open the drivers door with the key it won't open at all. So today I had to get in via the passenger side.
I can actually unlock the car with the key but the door lock stay down on the drivers door.
Any ideas? :)

Perfectly normal given the failed solenoid...
As for ideas... er, change the solenoid ::)
You can either repair and refit your existing one, or simply fit A N Other front door solenoid :y

Can I do it even if I can't open the drivers door though as I'm assuming that the door card will need to be removed?

If you can unlock the drivers door with the key, it should open :-\

I assume you are saying that the rest of the doors unlock with the key operating in the drivers door lock, but the drivers door remains locked with the plunger down :-\
If so it sounds like a mechanical linkage issue. :y

Yes mate. I've managed to open the front door now although the door pin is still down.
-
Pin normally stays down once solenoid has failed :y
When you remove the lock mechanism to replace the solenoid, you will be able to systematically work through all the linkages to check that they work and also to lubricate the lock mechanism as required :y

Superb. Cheers for that :) :y
