Title: Registration date.
Post by: Terbs on 23 April 2015, 20:19:01
Probably a simple answer to my question from you 'wisdom's of knowledge. ;D
I have been onto a couple of car factor sites over the last couple of days checking prices of odds and sods. I fill my registration number and it comes up as a 2002 Omega. Thing is, my Omega was first registered during May 2003. It was then private plated, until the original registration was put back on when I bought it.
No major problem....except when looking at parts, some seem to be specific for my year, rather than 2002. For example, most of the belt kits for a 2.6, show the normal 1994 to 2004 range, but mine has to go by engine number of after 085375. But when using the 2002 registration, it comes up with the previous engine series, and wrong kit !!.
So why does my registration show a year out? ???

Date of registration and date of manufacturing both different.
Mine built in 2001 registered 2002.
So basically 2002 bits will fit yours.

Depends how long the car sat around the dealers showroom before it was registered.
