Was the old oil cleared up? Could the oil be residue left from the old leak?
Or is it defo still leaking? If so anything trapped? Any damage to the plastic covers? Are they warped or distorted? (Presume would of been apparent on refitting) are the seals deco seated correctly? Was black goo used as the guide in the cam half moon corners? Correctly torqued to 8nm.
Sorry for the questions but they are relevant.
Also is the seal ok in the filler neck?
-
cam covers are fine all old oil clean away black goo was used as instructed filler neck ok seal good
all correctly tighten up to 8nm

Ignoring what's on the sump for a minute, as almost all oil leaks seem to end up there.
Oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold, or the heat shields around them to be more precise, can only come from the cam cover area. Ime, leaks from the cam seals at the front run down the front of the engine between the block and the back of the rear cam belt guard. ....unless there's been a spillage from topping up the oil level, or the filler neck is not sealing. So might be worth removing the neck, and plugging the oil cap directly into the cam cover instead, just to eliminate one more thing.
Other than that, to my mind that only leaves a miss placed cam cover seal somewhere. ...I think....?

i'll will try that tomorrow then post on here if its fixed it or it still leaks ty

There is an omega meet in Wycombe on the 4th if it's not sorted by then.
See the meetings section. Although you'll probably get a pm from someone offering help.

Steady is she goes. We don't like being beaten either. :y
-
I have replied to your PM, but if you have just replaced the covers as per the guide, it would be daft to replace them just because...
But happy to look at the meet to ensure that the breathers are clear and that the covers are fitted correctly, as there are a couple of points that could easily be mis fitted :y

im very great full for your help

went for a run yesterday and smoke all over the place had to get car recovered started the car today and fresh oil from the drivers side cam and passenger side cam is there any else i can try
-
Half moons not seated correctly ,or possibly the covers are warped due to being overtightened in a previuos life.Only option now is to remove, clean, thoroughly check and refit either using different covers if found not straight.
Gasket will be fine ,but may be wise getting new 0 rings just to be on the safe side.

Hi has this problem occurred since the work you did or were you having the issue before? and if so is it better worse or just the same? forgive me if ive missed an earlier post

Where the cam covers gaskets / sealant ect done on a cold engine ? And did you let it all settle/cure overnight ?
-
no it was all done at the wycombe meet
-
Is this not the one that Taxi Al & Nick done at the Wycombe meet last week ? If so , I'm sure replacement covers were used .
I had a 2.5 MFL Elite where I done the cam covers 3 times with 2 sets of new gaskets & a set of good used cam covers . .
Just could not stop it leaking . . . not pouring out but a few drips on the floor after about 20 mins.. sold it in the end ::)
Edit : must type faster ::) ::)
-
its starting to look like it will going soon
-
Only 224 posts to go before you can sell it on here. :-X
-
or just park it up with number in window :'(
-
Compression test next then... ?
See if it's over pressurising the crank case.
-
do you know any one that does that or is it garage time

No. It doesn't need that amount of teme to cure. Black goo takes about 15mins to go off, so by the time it's reassembled it's ready to go. Something else is at play here IMO.

There's a few here, but before bothering them we need some honest answers. Is the oil level correct? Ie, NOT above the top mark on the dipstick when hot? Has anyone worked on it since the meet? Are the breathers properly clear when blowing through BOTH ways via the breather pipes at the back of the plenum?
Forgive the direct approach but if members are going out of their way to help they might not be best pleased if the basics are not right. Applogies again, but I hope that's understandable?

Is the oil pressure valve working?
-
not sure and how would i find it
