I concur.

My CLS 500 was no more than an E500 in a £8000  party frock.

The new ones are not in the same class as the ones from a few years ago, I had a 1992 190e a few years back a really beautiful engineered vehicle, wish I had kept it now.

I had a 98 C250 Turbo Diesel estate a couple of years ago for a workhorse and loved it to be honest.  :y

If it wasn't riddled with rust I'd have got rid of the Omega and kept it instead!  :o  ;D

I concur.

My CLS 500 was no more than an E500 in a £8000  party frock.

It looked nicer though than an E Class  :y

No complaints with either the car or the servicing costs tbh :-\

Cls is based on previous W211 E Class,  current one is in a different league imho :y

I have a 25 year old Merc. Im sure it was machined from one solid billet. Its unbreakable, even with well over 200k on the clock.

It did.

It also went like shit off a shovel. :y

Build quality was nothing special though.

Chap up the road had an Omega. Loved it....but not being a 'man of the world' ...a musician by trade (proper orchestra, arguably the best trombonist in Uk) was told by the local garage manager that Omega's were 'a load of crap' persuaded him to sell it and by a Merc from him. Chap regrets it....it sounds like a bag of bolts, rattles like hell.
Keeps coming down to me a crying in my lap..'I wish I had kept my Omega'. I think he may be looking!!!!!!!

* That garage manager told me the same...obviously they have lost all my custom ;)

I have just replaced my Omega with a merc and I love it.....Each to there own I guess I still love Omega's and will always have a place in my heart for one but I wanted to try something different.  I'm not loaded nor do I have an endless supply of money but when I looked into it they don't seem to bad for servicing etc. especially if you do your own lol which I reckon most of us on here do.

Andy b your R class has been o.k. hasn't it ?? you seem happy with it and from what I know of you....you seem to go with good stuff. :y

It's been great. Thirstier than my Omega though  ???  ;) and you could buy a small runabout for the price of a set of tyres .....  ???

I had a 2004 E320 cdi estate... ride quality on 18" wheels was piss poor on anything but motorway, but other than the senso-crap-tronic brakes you couldn't really fault the build quality at 140k miles.

Despite the firm ride absolutely NOTHING rattled in or on the car and everything stilled worked exactly as intended.  Which is more than can be said for most Omegas / BMWs that haven't been obsessively restored/loved.  :P

Sold it (mainly because I needed the cash) with every intention of buying another Merc "one day".  It was by no means "a drivers car" but one of the best ways (in it's price bracket) of getting from A to B in comfort/style/with luggage.

Scotty Kilmer is just a twunt.
