Title: Newbie, but not a Newbie.... Met Oscar
Post by: deviator on 02 May 2015, 19:01:22
I went to look at this car with the intention of using it for a project I have brewing in my mind.  ??? However, it's better than my daily driver  ::) as such MOT is booked for Friday and I suspect Oscar will be staying with me.  :y

Everyone likes pictures, so here you are....

Loads of history

First plans (after an MOT) are a new window switch, sort out why drivers seat is neither heated or moving and then cruise control. Of course a minor service will be thrown in it's direction soon enough. Oh yeah, another little thing on the list, ditchfiner tyres led to some  :o moments.

Now joins my 2.6 v6 stable  8)...
2.6 Sri Vectra Estate in Petrol Blue
2.6 GSI Vectra Estate in Petrol Blue
1.8 Mk1 MX5 in Red (The green mx5 is in for repair and isn't mine)

My 2.2 auto went last week, failed head gasket sealed its fate. The wife wanted something more economical so she now has a 2008 Fiat Panda  which she loves. I never really took to the Desmond preferring my 2.6 CDX which in manual form is much better on fuel than the 2.2 estate ever was 17-19 around town 32 on a decent run , the 2.6 usually returns 27 - 30 mpg no matter where or how you drive it.As a load lugger the estates are great.

Looks nice, and good luck with it .Often thought about getting the estate version as had a montego diesel estate in the late 80`s which did the job,  but longstanding miggy saloon and 4x4 ownership was what I settled for. :)

I bought it for the parts, but as my daily Vectra has a fair bit of rust, 177k on clocks and is worth more than any of my other cars (GSI & Rare). I'll keep the Miggy (subject to MOT pass) and sell the Vectra.
