There was a small car show hosted by the local branch of the MMOC in town today.Just a few motorbikes of which the star for me was a beautiful Black Shadow. As for the cars well there were of course a good few "Moggies"a TR3A,1500 Allegro VDP,P4 Rover 75 a 1978 Opel Ascona 1.6 that was bought in SLady bitshorpe and lived in Brigg all its life and been in the same family since 1980 and had a 1.6N engine as opposed to the "S" version which replaced it soon after launch.Again star of the show car wise for me was a Morris 8[1940's?]Sadly not much info was displayed on this one and I didn't see the owner but it had wider than standard wheels/tyres,twin tail pipes and a V8 up front with Edelbrock inlet/carb/air filter what a beauty!!

Quite right too.
With that massive grille it looked like ...well err.
Then there was the interior enhanced by a range of modifications designed to attract traditionally inclined customers, including: special seats upholstered in real leather, with reclining backrests; deep-pile carpets; extra sound insulation; a new instrument panel in walnut; walnut folding tables for the rear passengers; nylon headlining; and for the luggage, a fully trimmed boot/trunk.
One is reminded about how horrid the base models were in those days. I had a Wolsey 16/60 tow car for a while. Ah the luxury ;D

The All-aggro VDP clearly demonstrated that you can't polish a turd. ;D
Did Hyacinth Bucket own one?

Aaahh, wonderful machines. As a youth I remember Fergus Anderson doing a test on one at Oliver's Mount in 1949(?)IIRC the speeds through the gears were: 1st 67, 2nd 84, 3rd 110, Top gear top speed unattainable due circuit limitations. :y :y :y

My first car was a 1979 Opel Ascona B 1.6S :)

I seem to recall a picture of a man riding one outstretched in just swimming trunks.
Trying to break a speed record if memory serves.

I do love a nice All-agro.
The talk of Wolsey reminds me that I saw a 4/44 on the motorway on Friday night.. and at Stoneleigh there were a handful of heavily modified Ford Pops..
