Title: A political poll; but not what you were expecting
Post by: Rods2 on 05 May 2015, 19:36:07
Something I have learnt over the years is that to keep politicians honest (I know an oxymoron) you need to engage with them, so they know their voters concerns and views. So how many time have people on here contacted their MP, minister, prime minister or even an international politician (MEP, foreign MP or leader) in the last 5 years.

It is something I have been doing more and more often as it has never been easier in this age of electronic communication.

Never forget they represent and are held to account by us, the electorate. ;) ;) ;)

My local MP was of much use as a chocolate tea pot when we contacted him ..... probably 15 years ago

Not the most honest of men ........ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Chaytor  ::)

There is a saying round these parts, to those that moan continually about all and sundry "speak to you Mp" in other words F off and waste your time with someone who's good at it.

Speak? To a polotician? Have you gone oppsing mental Rodney!

I bumped into our local MP Oliver Letwin in the Post Office a few years ago and considered bending his ear a bit, but he looked like a frightened rabbit.  So I felt sorry for him and left him in peace instead.  ;D

I tend to spleen vent towards our MP from  time to time. Always get a polite, supportive reply. Doesn't stop him sticking rigidly to the tory party line. I suspect he knows where his next promotion is coming from. >:(

Thing is, if you don't do this, you never have any impression of whether they give a cr@p.

I said 0 but I think actually I did once send one of those templated letters about petrol prices. I got the response I was expecting; "Petrol prices aren't our fault, blah blah blah blah". Wouldn't bother wasting my time again, or urinating on them if they were on fire, for that matter.
