Title: Air Con Pipes
Post by: LostBloke on 06 May 2015, 17:39:48
Hi.

I took my car to be regassed at my local garage, one 'phone call later I'm the proud owner of a air con system with a split high pressure pipe. The garage made a call and told me a replacement would be "£180 +". I asked if I found a cheaper one if they would fit it? They agreed, so I bought a used one on ebray, took it to the garage and left them to it. A few hours later a 'phone call tells me that the fitting of the replacement was a bigger than thought of job, including partial engine dismantle and headlamp/bumper removal, thereby sending the labour costs "sky-high".
Does anyone know how much this job should be, or is there a guide to doing it myself  :o*shudder* ?
Regards

Bumper takes five minutes to remove, headlight 30 seconds (assuming the far superior facelift),

As for dismantling half the engine... ???

oppsing idiots at a guess... find another garage or diy :y

I don't know how far you are from Keynsham, and seeing as you are lost, you probably don't know either!  :P

Speak to Andy at KoolTech.  Very helpful bloke and a personal friend.  Tell him Ross sent you!

Yep! I vaguely remember stumbling through Keynsham ( "spelt K.E.Y.N.S.H.A.M " that takes me back to Radio Luxembourg - Coo! showing my age.). Thanks for that, I'll call him tomorrow.
